Customizable and Roomy Photo Backpack at a Great Price
I was a photojournalist back in the film days when the Domke F2 photo bags ruled. After Canon came out with the full frame, mirrorless EOS RP, I made the switch from my aging Nikon DSLRs to the Canon R platform. Since then, I’ve been expanding my hobby and my kit around astro, wildlife and landscape photography. Usually, I’m not packing my equipment into a remote site, so when I started looking for a backpack to replace my shoulder bag(s), I didn’t really need something as high tech as, say, a Lowepro. And I don’t like dedicated sling bags. I compared several backpacks under $100 on Amazon and chose the BESCHOI Camera Backpack. Its rugged and spacious enough for my needs, highly customizable, and has multiple access options.PROS- Size: About 24 liters or roughly the size of an average Targus laptop backpack- Customizable: Plenty of padded dividers included- Access: One big cargo area, w/ separate access “doors” so you don’t expose the entire contents (see photos)- Included rain cover- Separate laptop area: Bigger than advertised, fits a 17” MacBook Pro comfortably- Well-padded shoulder straps; padded and vented back- Doesn’t look like a “photo bag”, at least not to me- Price: About $64 on Amazon (list is $102.99), and w/ an 18% coupon available as of this writingCONS- Zipper pulls are not tamper resistant; too many elastic pull strings can easily catch on bushes and other obstacles in the field. FIX: I removed about half of the pulls and added split rings for the two zippers I’ll use most often; the split ring can also be inserted into the two-way zipper pull to lock them together- Bottom padding is the same as the rest of the bag and probably not adequate if/when the bag is set down a little hard. FIX: I added additional foam padding inside the bottom compartment.- No chest or hip straps. Since I’m not hiking long distances (1 mile or less) I won’t really need the waist strap, but would like a chest strap for short hikes to keep the backpack up on my shoulders. FIX: The shoulder straps are long enough to add a quick release buckle that acts as an adequate chest strap if I’m not wearing a really heavy field coat (see photos).I have a lot of gear in this backpack, and will switch out some for specific shoots (astro vs wildlife, etc). It doesn’t have room for extra clothes, raincoat, etc as I have it set up now, but it’s easy to rework when necessary. My kit list included in this bag is below — it weighs in at just under 17 lbs w/out a tripod, water bottle or laptop/tablet.Camera Bodies- EOS R6 w/85mm lens- EOS RPOptics- EF 200 f/2.8 w/Canon Mount Adapter- RF 85mm f/2 Macro (attached to R6 body)- RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro- RF 16mm f/2.8 w/ Lens Hood- TT Artisan 11mm f/2.8 Full Frame Fisheye- EF 1.4x Tele-extender (in a case)- EF 2x Tele-extender (in a case)Flash/Lighting- Canon Speedlite EL-100- ETTL Extension Cord- Headlamp Flashlight- 2 Mini-RGB Video LightsAccessories- Extra Camera Batteries (for both bodies)- Extra AA Batteries- SD Card Wallet- 2 Specialty Filters (43 + 67mm)- Canon BR-E1 Remote Control- 2 Peak Design Camera Straps- 10x24 Binoculars- Silva Map Compass- Jet Air Bulb and “lipstick” soft brush- 2 extra ARCA-Swiss Quick Release Plates- Swiss Army Knife- Emergency Whistle- Band Aides, Extra Meds, Ibuprofen- Spare Reading Glasses- Small Note Pad, Mechanical Pencil, Business Cards- Camera Rain Sleeve- Extra Camera Body Caps and Rear Lens CapsObviously, I won’t carry all this all the time. For example, I won’t usually carry the teleconverters, and seldom use the 35mm. I also have an EF 100-400 zoom for wildlife that will fit in the bottom compartment by itself with an RF mount adapter attached. The side access area to quickly grab a camera and lens is oriented so you hang the backpack off your left shoulder, which is opposite of what I’m used to. And, as I highlighted in the “cons” above, there are some things I altered to work better for me.Bottom line, for this price, this is a very customizable and roomy photo backpack that will allow me to store and carry nearly my entire kit, and can be customized for specific projects. Although it may not hold up over time for rugged, daily use chasing birds or elk, I highly recommend the Beschoi Photo Backpack for avid hobbyist and even for wedding or location professionals who can use a 1-bag solution.

Everything You Need to Hold Camera Gear
Absolutely love it! One of the zipper paracords snapped, but this bag works so well attached a keychain to it! It’s a keeper!

Great storage - super comfortable!
I’ve been using this as my camera bag for five months now, and I am amazed by the comfort it provides. I put a 24-70, 70-200, and 50 mm lens while also housing my R6 camera body, lens adapters, batteries, SD cards, camera strap, and more! This bag gets hauled to weddings, family, and studio sessions, etc — I love the sleek design. Even with the weight of all my gear, it still feels light and comfortable to carry for long periods of time. It is incredibly well-made and helps you to organize your gear for quick grabbing. You can adjust it to fit your back tight or loosely — my husband has carried it for me quite a few times and he is over 6 foot with long lanky arms and still said it was comfortable! Such a great bag.

Good quality, great price.
Great camera bag. Storage is enormous and compartments are placed perfectly. Waterproofing is a great addition as well. I've only used this twice so far and it didn't disappoint. Easy to pack and carry. The padding in this bag is really good. It's present in the outer shell and between compartments. I feel really safe transporting expensive equipment with this bag.

Watch out for the straps
Bought this bag in 2023. Used it a couple of times that year. Used it again for a month long photo vacation in 2024. On the way home, I noticed that one of the straps was coming undone from the seam. Be aware of the straps where they attach to the bag. You don't want to accidently loose your gear. Also, the bag is not really made for short women. Weight is meant for the shoulders and bag is meant to be in your back. For short women, it's right above the hip but not completely on the hip. Made my lower back/ upper hip hurt.
