My 10 year old son asked for a wood carving kit and this one did not disappoint. I bought a whittling book to go with it and my son made a squirrel on day one. The tools are good quality for a beginner set and would definitely purchase again.

I’m pleased with the overall quality of this carving kit. Every tool arrived sharp and well-crafted, which made getting started super easy. The variety of tools included covers everything I need for my project, from rough shaping to fine detail work.The carrying case is a nice bonus: sturdy, compact, and keeps everything securely in place. It’s great for both storage and transport. I also appreciate that the kit came with a pair of protective gloves which shows attention to safety and is something not every set includes.I can’t speak to long-term durability just yet but everything feels solid and well-made. For the price this kit is a great value. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a beginner-friendly or intermediate carving set.

Don't really know where to begin with actually trying out the knives because the wood is a bit smaller than I thought. It would be much easier to start if the wood pieces were atleast the size of 2 of those skinny rectangles put together. Even better, one piece the size of 4, instead of being cut into 4 thin ones. I think it would be much more helpful if all the wood that comes with this set currently where in 2 equal sized pieces. I'm not sure what to do with them at this time. As for the set as a whole, I'm very satisfied and excited to begin learning this awesome craft

Ordered for our 8 year old who wants to be a Carver. He lives the set! It looks nice.

Lately I’ve been taking a risk on Amazon Resale (used) products and I saved $10 on this set by doing so. I am not at all disappointed. The outer box was in rough shape, but other than that, every component appears brand new & unused. I used to whittle a lot when I was in my early teen years and now that I’m retired I’d like to take it back up again. Granted, 55 years ago I don’t know that they even made tools like this… we relied on our trusty pocket knives for all aspects of carving back then. I’m anxious to see how much easier it might be with this variety of carving shapes and options. The blades don’t seem very sharp to me, but they would be adequate for a youngster just starting out. For us geezers they’ve included polishing compound and a sharpening strop. If I figure out how to properly sharpen the curved or partially hollowed blades effectively, I’ll update this review. I’m super grateful for the inclusion of the safety gloves because, for some reason, I am constantly cutting my fingers… hopefully that will all change now! I have no complaints about the sturdiness or craftsmanship of these knives and chisels. In assembling this kit, the manufacturer literally thought of everything and provided it!

Would have been nice to come with some sort of directions on how each piece works, or maybe even follow along diagram for your first character. It’s supposed to be a beginners set after all, and I got this for my young daughter.

Don't plan to use the gloves. They don't work. I have had other cut resistant gloves before, and the ones in these kit are not up to snuff. I have cut through the gloves in this kit a bunch of times. And no, I don't mean I stabbed between the fingers, the knives cut holes into the gloves.But on the upside, the knives are great. The covers for the blades don't really cover the whole blade, but since they have a carrying case, that's less of a concern. The wood in the kit is adorably tiny and isn't too hard to work with.
