Finally, something that worked
I am female, size 10 M shoe. I bought the Medium pad. This metatarsal pad has changed my life. I have incapacitating metatarsal pain and big toe pain from combination of a second toe hammertoe and big toe arthritis. Toe crests from podiatrist relieved the small toe metatarsal pain, but increased big toe pain. Ouch! I subsequently spent a small fortune on prescription creams and pills that didn't seem to help at all. I have a drawer full of metatarsal/hammertoe stuff I bought but didn't work for me. Even some other pads which were too thick for me. About this pad: Be patient and be your own detective. Get yourself a good orthotic from podiatrist or a shoe store that images your foot. (Yes, they are expensive, but it's your feet for goodness sakes). Mine from podiatrist were $200, but the ones I like and use now we're $60 from Walking Company. Get a sturdy lace up shoe to hold your foot in place. Remove a small piece of the pad backing to anchor the pad on your orthotic. Start with the picture in the instructions to place. I moved that pad all over the orthotic maybe 40 times before I found the right place, making tiny moves. Then, before I fully glued it to the orthotic I wore it a few hours. Made about a crucial 1/8th of an inch adjustment and glued it on. I then circled it with a pen so I'd know where it went if it came off. (Probably won't, great adhesion). For first time in 7 weeks, I can walk on the sole of my foot with only a mild, bearable sensation in my foot. Thank you Pro Tech.

Best I found
My foot does best with metatarsal support. I know this after years of trying different things. However, many shoes do not fit my custom insoles. Even hiking boots fit differently with custom soles in them. Instead, I just stick these onto the original inserts. They have allowed me amazing improvement in comfort. Without metatarsal support, I actually damaged the nerves between my toes once after a long hike. These allow me to hike again. They are a bit hard to get them into the right position in hiking boots. I often try several times with only part of the sticky side uncovered until it feels just right. Even then, after a hike or two, I have to reposition, which means using another pad as the sticky is gone from the first.4 starts are for durability. It is not bad! They stayed in place for ten day backpacking trips before. Some, however, are frayed on the edges when I get them.I just got a new pair of hiking boots, and I ordered 3 pair of these, as I need them so much I keep an extra when I hike in my emergency kit.

Metatarsal lifts not not metatarsal cushions-
Originally looking for a metatarsal Pad to cushion the foot not a metatarsal "lift" as I have little or no cushion left on my metatarsal bones and I already have orthotics that have the metatarsal lift. The product would "probably" help to alleviate discomfort of a poor or partially collapsed t metatarsal arch and help with proper foot alignmet but at 15.00 for two foam pads that glue onto the shoe lining, its a toss-up on their value. I can purchase an entire orthotic including the metatarsal lift for 42.00 so these pads are a bit overpriced. The packaging does not provide any proper instructions on how to "install" the pads so the customer is at a loss as to how they should be placed especially if they did not have any internet access.. I still have discomfort even with the product so unfortunately they did not work for me

It works!!
I have a morton's neuroma and have had quite a few cortisone injections for it. The first 2 injections were 4 years ago, they worked, and lasted for 4 years! However, I went back several months ago and got two more injections and these seemed to aggravate the nerve. It got so bad that I couldn't walk for 3 weeks. I am now able to walk again, but I can't wear most shoes/sandals because I get "electric shock" like feelings in my neuroma. I went searching online for something to put in my shoes that will take the pressure off this nerve, and I found these Metatasal lift pads. I was kind of skeptical, but figured since it was only $15 I would take a chance, and I'm glad I did. These pads work great, no more pain.Since I only have a Morton's Neuroma in one foot and this is a set of 2 pads, I used them on two different pairs of sandal's. You stick them to the shoe and the adhedsive keeps them in place. It was worth $15 to be able to walk pain free again!

Does help, but no instructions on placement
After reading the reviews, I bought these to help with a neuroma. They do seem to help. However, the package includes no information on where/how to position the pads. We had to search online to try to figure it out. Ultimately, when we went to the doctor, he told us that we had it in the wrong place and showed us how to properly position them. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of this lack of usage information.By the way, the store was great. Sent the product quicky, and with no problems.

They didnot really help
I am a ballroom dancer starting to develop bunions. I bought metatarsal support based on my podiatrist's recommendation, hoping that they would help alleviate the pain when I dance for 4 hours straight. But they did not help, gave me imbalances, actually made me hurt a bit more. The package does not tell you where to place them. My podiatrist told me where to place them and I did what she told me. Maybe they would only help if I not so nuts about dancing.

They work until they come apart.
They work until they come apart. They are made of fabric which does not allow the foot to slide easily into the shoe. In turn, the sock rubs on the pad until it comes apart after only a couple uses. This pad is made of three layers that are glued together. The top layer comes loose and then you have nothing. I ordered Pedag T-form instead. They hold up much better and have a slick surface which does not rub against the sock and work its way apart!

Works for some shoes
I am in a constant search for metatarsal support for different kinds of shoes. These seem like they will wear well and are better than some of the others out there. However, the support is minimal, but much better than nothing. I would rate them a 5, but they are a little tricky to fit just right into the shoe. I recommend this product for shoes where no other type of arch support will fit. Something with a firmer support works better for metatarsal problems.

I would recommend initially placing them temporarily using some tape and not ...
I have Morton's Neuroma and these pads helped me extend my range before feeling symptoms / pain. Not a replacement for a trip to a podiatrist and custom inserts but they help a lot.I would recommend initially placing them temporarily using some tape and not peeling back the sticky surface until you have measured and found the correct positioning. See how they feel and adjust. Once you peel back the sticky surface there is no going back. The cloth covering on these comes off easily after a few long runs so I would recommend after sticking these onto your shoe inserts to overlay them with some masking tape to prevent wear and tear.

Not sure I'd buy again
Although these pads do lift the ball of my foot and reduce the pain, they keep moving about as I walk; the adhesive doesn't really hold. I decided to give these a try as a more permanent way of lifting the metatarsal arch. I had previously just bought sheets of orthopedic felt and cut pieces to size. I think I'll return to my previous method as at least the felt stayed where I needed it and only needed replacing when it went flat. These I have to replace in position on a daily / twice daily basis.

Need size guide
first time I bought them, asked if I wanted small, medium or large, without any term of reference as to what these sizes meant. went for medium, should have gone fr large and I'm a size 6 shoe. Will now try a different product rather than try a larger size in this make.
