This replaced the cap on my 2005 Mini Cooper convertible and fit perfectly. The gas cap check-engine-light went out as soon as I installed this one. It's a way better option than the pricey dealer replacement!

Low cost replacement for my 2003 E39
When the rubber tether snapped during my last fill up, I was looking for a low-cost fuel cap. The price of a BMW exact replacement is >$50. A bit pricey for a 21-year old car born on Oct 2002.This aftermarket cap is designed with lower cost parts and much lighter, and appears similar in design to the factory recommended updated part from BMW (~$25 online). There are features missing from the original design such as a tactile click for ensuring the cap is tightened properly. That said, this cap works just fine.I'll keep using the old cap with a busted tether, and keep this as a spare. Good value.

Suitable replacement for OEM, but not the same
I ordered this replacement fuel cap because the rubberized tether cord on my OEM cap snapped and I wasn't happy placing the cap in random spots when filling and I accidently knocked it on the ground where it rolled under the car once. The cap fits but it is not the same quality as the OEM gas cap - lighter weight, no feedback when tightening the cap, different engineering look and feel. I will keep my old cap in storage incase this one fails but it is keeping a pressurized seal (not throwing any check engine lights) and is functioning appropriately.

Great Replacement for BMW E39
I obtained this gas cap to replace the one on my BMW E39 because the plastic flap had torn. This gas cap is a perfect replacement! I had no issues installing and it was a perfect fit. The installation is very simple and the materials are tough.

It does its job.
My 2008 BMW Z4 (E85) check engine light was on with code P1447. I installed this gas cap, cleared the code, and it has not yet returned. As others mentioned, it does not seem as heavy as the OEM cap.
