Excellent desktop replacement for Mom!
This is a wonderful little device. Through recent circumstances, I've become my mother-in-law's tech support dude. Problem is, she lives 700 miles from me.She had been using a Windows desktop and would constantly call me with questions about pop-ups, and updates and virus warnings and the like. To the point where about every time she tried to use Facebook I'd get a call.So I replaced the desktop with this and copied all the documents and photos from the desktop up to Google Drive, and she was set.She loves it, because she just does what she needs to do, without all of the Windows annoyances and distractions. Also, cut her calls to "Tech Support" by 10X, so that's a huge win for me! (And the couple of times she's needed help I just "remote desktop" in to it, and show here exactly what she needs to do.)My only wish is that I'd done this sooner.

Couldn't be any easier!
Couldn't be any easier. Open the box, plug it in, connect monitor (or your HD TV), connect keyboard and mouse, turn it on, connect to your WIFI network, log in to your Google account and you are ready to go. It really is that easy and it just works. If you don't have a Google account, you will have to establish one. Nothing extra to buy, all the software you will need is part of Google Chrome. One potential downside for some is printer support. This isn't a PC, you can't connect a printer to it. If you need a printer, it connects to your network and you use Google Cloud Print to print. There is no hard drive, your files will be stored in your Google drive under your Google account, in the cloud. It is free to do this. Now, all of your files, photos, etc. are available to all of your devices or to any computer, anywhere, just log in to your Google account.

This is a wonderful "black box
This is a wonderful "black box." It is 'just there' and always works, as reliable and innocuous as your refrigerator. No updates that get in your way, no software to buy, and it does all the Google apps faster than a Windows PC. I bought this for my wife. When she had a Windows PC she often complained "get Microsoft off my computer" because of all the intrusive maintenance activities of MS Windows and its applications. Since she has had the Ansus Chromebox, I have not heard a single complaint about "the computer" and she can accomplish every thing she wants done within the Google ecosystem of apps. For $200 this is an incredible value.

Couldn't be happier. If all you do is browser based
Took me a long time to decide getting a chromebox. My desktop finally gave out and forced me to buy this. Couldn't be happier. If all you do is browser based, then buy this model. The newer model does has minor upgrades you don't really need to browse the internet or stream videos.

great computer for seniors (or anybody who is web/e-mail focused)
Living 4 hours drive from my 86 year old mom, who loves e-mail and web (browsing, banking, etc.), plus photo uploading, I grew tired of trying to maintain a Mac or PC at a distance, worrying about upgrades and downloads and viruses, etc. She had a Mac mini before, and the Chromebox plugged right in permitting re-use of monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Got a new cloud printer. Migrated her Pages and Word files to Google Docs. Moved her bookmarks from Firefox to Chrome. Gave her minimal initial training to be comfortable on new browser and a little Google Docs navigation, plus printing. Practiced getting a chrome remote desktop session going with my laptop.Subsequent training/support is "just in time" via remote desktop, but she's relatively comfortable in the new environment from the get-go, and I'm certain this is a more sustainable solution, with minimal support needs going forward. And if the box ever dies, for less than $200 we plug in another. In my view, 95% of seniors (unless already tech savvy), should be on Chrome OS. Chromebox unless highly mobile, due to advantage of full size keyboard, monitor and mouse. Otherwise Chromebook if they are laptop oriented. For that matter, I'm a regular and experienced user of employer-provided Windows and Linux laptops at work... but while my current personal laptop is Windows, I think my next one will be a Chrome OS device - either a laptop or a convertible (perhaps some yet-to-be-released copycat/successor to Pixel Slate?). Chrome OS is really really powerful now, and all my personal computing needs can be accomplished within the Google OS ecosystem.

Great value for office desktops.
I love chromeboxes, they are fast, secure, and do the job with zero maintenance. My original 2012 chromebox is now beyond its automatic update time (AUE) (although it still works fine) but these are so inexpensive it is well worth it to buy a new one that stays updated. This one is really fast and has plenty of USB3 ports.

I bought this for my mother. It is perfect for her needs aside from the lack of usb printer support, but that's not a deal breaker. It is much faster than the specs suggest. I highly recommend this if you just need a computer for internet browsing. Word processing and spreadsheets can be achieved through Google Docs or MS Office 360 if you need more features. I am very happy with the purchase. Item arrived fast and exactly as described.
