Brothers Martin and Chris Kratt host a live-action "what if" segment at the beginning of each episode in which they introduce the animal of the day and set up the animated program that follows. Then the animated versions of Martin and Chris are joined by scientific team Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy on exciting journeys of discovery that take them around the globe. "Lost at Sea" consists of two episodes: "Speaking Dolphinese" and "Blowfish Blowout." In the first episode, the Kratt brothers swim with bottlenose dolphins and begin to decode their complex language of whistles and clicks with the help of Aviva, her scientific team, and some special dolphin suits. In addition to learning about how dolphins locate fish with echolocation and talk through their blowholes rather than their mouths, they discover firsthand how dolphins protect one another from sharks. Martin and Chris get swept away by a powerful current in "Blowfish Blowout," and it's up to Aviva and Koki to track their location by figuring out what kind of fish they're with. The team ends up in a coral reef swarming with sea creatures and eventually finds Martin and Chris, as well as a fine example of the blowfish's unique way of fending off predators.
