Merryhill Mushrooms - Porcini Powder - (60g)

This is excellent porcini powder, really rich and pungent. I've made my own before, from prime Boletus edulis I foraged myself, so I'm in a good position to judge the quality. (The flavor only really comes out with the dried product btw, fresh porcini are rather underwhelming, at least to me). You need quite a lot to flavor a whole pot of mushroom soup, but most other dishes need just a dash. It marries with so many things. Mackerel & mustard crackers, creamy linguine, chicken pie. It gives me the most incredible brown crust on a simple fried steak. I'm hooked!

Nuce ti use to enhance a Risotto, very string flavour so use sparingly

I like that it adds the rich depth of flavour without having to soak dried mushrooms, which can also be quite tough. Only a small amount is needed and because it's powder, it's a great store cupboard ingredient.

Great flavour, strong and economical in use. Great in soups, gravies and sauces.

Never used mushroom powder before but wanted to follow a recipe so bought this one. Very impressed with the taste. Have since added it to several other fishes to enrich the flavour. Will definitely buy it again.

Made to look nice, but because it is made of wood, and mushroom powder tends to be fine, it clumps up, and doesn't sprinkle through as it should! It sticks and bungs up to the point you get no powder coming through!Nice looking condiment pot that doesn't deliver. Get something made of pot or plastic that won't stick!Would be good if this issue was addressed!
