SMASH – The Singles 1985 – 2020 (2023

This is a fantastic box set of 6 vinyl albums, covering the main part of their career (to date). The bangers are there, but the beauty of the boys is they have produced great music throughout their career. The box is of superb quality and the vinyl itself is flawless.

A must for a pet shop boys fan! Great music, I play it in my car, great quality CD’s fast delivery!

Brilliant selection of songs on three C D s. Pet Shop boys. The Singles. Some I didn't know. But some of my favourites as well. Like them all.

Excellent cd

Superb 3 cd collection of all the Pet Shop Boys singles. A definite must if you,re a fan. Highly recommended.

This set is pressed on 180g black vinyl and comes with 5 individual heavyweight LPs and a booklet included. The pressing quality is outstanding and I can tell care has been taken to make sure the vinyls sound amazing. The black vinyls also sound far superior to the now sold out white set from their store as well. The only negatives are the thin paper vinyl sleeves included with the set that will easily mark the vinyls. It’s a shame they let this slip. Comparing the book to the one that is included in the CD/Bluray set, all the same content is in it but the one included in the CD/Bluray set is printed on quality thick paper and luxury. Unfortunately the one in the vinyl sets is thin and cheap looking. I think this has been done to squeeze it in the hardback case with the vinyls but it’s a shame it wasn’t done better. For those reasons I have removed a star but as always the music and collection is a 5/5.

A compilation in chronological order of 40 years of Pet shop boys singles. Some would say this is their 4th greatest hits collection that has been released but none of them have the sheer volume and completeness that Smash has . Discography and Pop art while both great collections clearly miss a lot of the boys work (pop art covers up to 2003). Ultimate was more recent but still had missing songs which Smash addresses and deals with . The music speaks for itself, as Britain’s best selling pop duo (well in excess of 50 million records sold) the quality and longevity is there for all to see. While anyone who remembers the quoted “imperial phase” from 1985-1989 then maybe an earlier collection would suffice but for me and many other fans of electronic music then this is one that should be in your old toon too . In my humble opinion this career spanning collection is simply brilliant.
