Everything works if you ley it!!!!!!!!!!!
A fantastic gem of a film. Meat Loaf, "Travis Redfish" is truly the greatest roadie ever. He is really great in this film with a never ending group of super musicians.

And oldie, a moldy and still a goldy
Okay, so it's a B grade of a B grade movie. And the DVD came without any label art on it, which was kind of disappointing, but not much. I mean, come on, I'm buying a movie about a Texan named Travis W. Redfish - who is the world's greatest Roadie (and he doesn't even know what a roadie is!) - portrayed, for God's sake by Meatloaf! I didn't expect any fancy wrapping on this one that's for sure. Less than the ticket to see it at the movie (and I'm talking dollar house, y'all) and I have disk full of memories going back more decades then some of you have been alive! Music? Mix of Old school rock and Older school country. Some of the greatest stars of my generation, and just the joy of hearing Debbie Harry (Blondie's lead singer)when she isn't singing. Pert near plumb perfect for a movie that doesn't expect anything except the belief that everything works if you let it.Hokey? Yep. No brainer popcorn for that movie night when you don't care if you catch the dialog or not? It's that too. Just a fun little movie with Alice Cooper out of makeup, Asleep at the Wheel, singing one of the best about Texas songs, and By God Roy Orbison.Darn well worth the money. And for what it's worth, I'm from Oklahoma, and 'Texas, you and me' still makes me cry.

If you can find this buy it!
Nothing to dislike except the unavailability! A great movie. Takes me back so many years to much better an more fun times. Meatloaf made this a classic and the songs are crazy cool.

rock 'n' roll!!!
I ordered this fantastic movie used from amazon last week and it came yesterday and watched it today! Thanks for the very speedy service! It is a great movie from 1980. It is about this boy from texas named travis redfish played by meatloaf who falls for a 16 year old girl named lola but she is more interested in alice cooper and wants to only lose her virginity to alice cooper. Travis signs with a traveling rock band and becomes known as the greatest roadie of all time. When she meets alice cooper it does not turn out how she planned. The movie also has live singing from alice cooper, blondie, hank williams jr, asleep at the wheel and roy orbison. Art carney is hilarious playing the role of travis redfish's father. It is a fantastic movie with a splendid cast!

The Amplifiers Only Go Up To Five
Having viewed a lot of rock 'n' roll films they don't necessarily have to make sense as long as they stay true to their own skewed logic. Alan Rudolph's film attempts to tap into the same manic anarchy of pictures like "Rock 'n' Roll High School". Alas, what's lacking in "Roadie" is the goofy energy of Alan Arkush's film. What does work is an affable turn by Meat Loaf as Travis, world's handiest roadie, and Kaki Hunter as the bubbly virginal groupie, Lola. What doesn't work are unmemorable musical performances by Alice Cooper, Blondie, Hank Williams Jr., Asleep at the Wheel, and Roy Orbison. That leaves us with a story and narratively it's a mess, an ingratiating mess but a mess nonetheless. I give the film a marginal pass, though, for its high spirits. Now if only someone would see fit to release "Get Crazy", "FM', and "American Hot Wax", genuine rock classics, to DVD.

Classic B Movie from 1980
A great movie for music fans... starring Meat Loaf, Art Carney, Kaki Hunter, Gailard Sartain, Don Cornelius, Rhonda Bates, Joe Spano to name a few. The musical acts to appear on screen are Hank Williams Jr., Alice Cooper, Blondie, Asleep at the Wheel, Roy Orbison among others. The Grammy: Country Vocal Duo Award came from the soundtrack of this movie - for "That Loving You Feelin' Again" by Emmylou Harris & Roy Orbison.

Roadie has some fun rock and roll moments but doesn't hold up to time.
I loved this film when it came out. I was working in a movie theatre and made sure to slip in during my favorite parts. In retrospect, watching the film from beginning to end doesn't offer my the same thrill. It has some great moments with the performances but the plot and much of the acting is unexciting. Seeing Alice Cooper in a restaurant with his snake is definitely worth seeing.
