Form and Function
My first impressions when taking the press out of the box is, that it could be placed in an Art Gallery with all the curved edges. (FORM)It looks to be very well made and will far exceed the Guarantee of 3 years X 10 or more. (30+ years) and I will be leaving it to a relative when I go.The main reason for me purchasing this is it's made from raw steel, where my last press had a chrome like coating to protect the metal which it is now slowly coming off this one will look beautiful for years. As well as not having to get a knife to get all the garlic out of the press once crushed, all you do is open it and use your fingers (FUNCTION)All this and I haven't used it yet, I look forward to the first press. The only thing I will say is being Swiss, I'm surprised the packaging is not 100% recyclable!!It has a black furry plastic the press is placed in, but the rest is cardboard which can obviously be recycled (maybe in Switzerland they can recycle furry plastic?)

Expensive but the acme of garlic presses
I watched loads of reviews before deciding upon this garlic press... yes, I'm that sad. I wanted one that 'works' and feels like the real deal. I've probably owned five or six different presses... they all worked, but some are harder than others to operate. Some harder to clean. All have failed one way or another... usually the hinge part breaks/bends, or I lose the basket and end up buying another. Not with this. It's heavy, superbly made, precision, easy to operate, easy to clean, feels like not will last a lifetime... and it does the job. There's no 'poking it with a fork' to get the bits out. Four stars only on 'value for money' because at £42 it's a lot for something that only does one thing. However, five stars for everything else. It's the best kitchen tool I've ever bought... and I love it.

The best garlic crusher in the world...... Ever!
Seriously, the title says it all. Nothing else comes close.Me and this garlic crusher go back a long way. My first one was given to me as a gift. From who I cannot remember unfortunately, as I would like to thank them again. It wasn't until a while after I got it that I realised how amazing it was. I had so many garlic crushers at the time, but this one quickly stood out in the crowd. It's pretty simple really. Most garlic crushers don't use the strength of your hand to squeeze 2 sides together and squish the garlic through the holes. Great, but if it has any flex, like it's made of plastic or something, not very efficient. Normal metal ones don't even do a great job. This one though uses some very clever leverage to maximise the squeezing on your hand muscles, and the result is the most efficient crushing of a garlic possible with a human hand. Seriously it puts other garlic crushers to shame. So my first one of these was cruelly taken from me when I broke up with my ex. Looking back I don't know if I was hurt more by the breakup, or the loss of the garlic press. By now I am going with garlic press. In the in-between years I was gifted a similar design of garlic press leverage wise, butte handle was plastic (pretty touch plastic at that) and that meant it didn't work anywhere near as well.So here we are years later, and I finally bit the bullet and replaces my Kuhn Rikon. Once again I am complete. It's pricey I know, but take it from me it is worth every penny. I am sure this press will last you a lifetime if you can hold onto it for that long, and it's packaged nicely too so would make a great gift.5 stars does not do it justice.

Works like a charm but is double as expensive in the UK than in the US although it is a Swiss brand and made there. Why is that?
This is the best ever garlic press we ever had. It works like a char and cleaning it has become so easy as the it flips open in a way that the press sieve gets exposed so that it can be cleaned in seconds. The only issue I have is with the price. I would have never bought it for the full price which is around £45 in the UK and even £53 in Germany. I don’t get why it sells in the US for half of the price than in Europe. Kuhn Rikon is a Swiss brand and manufactures their cookware and accessories in near Zurich, Switzerland. Products don’t have to be shipped around half of the globe first to reach the UK. So their products should be cheaper here. A more realistic price point would be £20 or perhaps £25 at the most. Well, let’s hope it will last a lifetime at this price :) It is certainly very sturdy. One star less for the price tag though.
