Building Small Projects (New Best of Fine Woodworking): The New Best of Fine Woodworking Building Small Projects offers ways to build skills by completing useful items. From the editors of Fine Woodworking-the dream team of woodworking professionals-this is the ultimate visual reference for woodworkers of every skill level. Projects include: An elegant jewellery box Picture frames Mirror frame Oval boxes And Much More! Review: A great taster menu of woodworking projects! - I love this book, which was one of the first to really turn me on to the potential and possibilities of woodworking. The short menu of projects range in complexity from making the simple but elegant stool on the cover to reproducing Thomas Jefferson's intricate travelling writing desk. As usual from Fine Woodworking, the construction diagrams are first class and works of beauty in themselves (the cigar humidor comes to mind here). Just wonderful! Review: Stylish - There are some stylish pieces in this book good for the more advanced beginner. My only concern is that for UK wood workers wood is not cheap and so you have to think outside the box if you want a very nice looking piece of furniture.

Well written with some good projects.
Well written with a few really nice projects. As with most books of this type not all the projects will suit all tastes but thereโs enough variety that every woodworker should find interest in a few. Worth reading in full as even those projects you have little interest in will garner useful info you can use in the future.

Not for the average woodworker
A little disappointed, the small projects listed were rather beyond the talents of the average wookworker- not so well advised in other reviews seen. Only get this if you are a expert!

Good purchase
Excellent book full of wonderful woodworking ideas, tips and tools/techniques. Husband thrilled to bits with it, as a surprise gift and thoroughly recommends it to intermediate to advanced woodworkers.

speravo meglio
il libro va bene ma la maggior parte dei progetti sono un po scontati, quello che mi piace di piรน รจ quello in copertina.

Great book but small doesn't mean easy.
I bought this book because I was teaching an intro woodworking course at a university and was looking for project ideas. While the projects in this book are "small", they are not necessarily projects for beginning woodworkers. It was a poor assumption on my part, but that's what these reviews are for I guess. The projects are pretty much just a collection of Fine Woodworking Articles and thus are well thought out and designed. Good illustrations make it easy to understand as well.

They do still make them like they used to.
Disclaimers: I like Fine Woodworking Magazine; I like working with hand tools; and, I would really like to produce well crafted projects like those presented in this book. The twenty small projects presented in this book require woodworking skills, and tools, ranging from basic to somewhat advanced. Many of the projects can be constructed with a modest collection of hand tools and a modicum of patience. As always, the photography, illustrations and editing of each article is quite good. (Did I mention that I really like Fine Woodworking Magazine?) This book is well organized and presented. I will certainly be giving copies of this book as presents over the holiday season.
