Groom Mate Platinum XL Plus Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

This little gadget works by means of a hidden rotating blade that cuts hairs without the risk of cutting anything else. It is very effective at its job, and entirely painless: the hairs are not pulled when being cut.No batteries are needed, and it is silent in operation. The picture does not really do it justice: its all stainless steel construction gives it a satisfying weight and balance, and means it should last indefinitely. It is easy to clean with the included brush, and can be dismantled for a deeper clean (I have not yet tried this).Finally, a neat leather pouch provides suitable storage for the Groom Mate and brush.Any downsides? Only that the brush is rather cheap-feeling and loses its plastic bristles easily.Overall, a highly recommended item that is definitely worth the full five stars.

I had never used a nose hair trimmer until this evening because I have survived using mini scissors and tweezers until now. Scissors were ineffective and tweezers bought tears to my eyes. This beautifully made machine is incredibly compact, fast and effective but what's best is that it is very comfortable to use, absolutely no pain nor discomfort whatsoever. I'm quite amazed - a rare 5 stars from me. I recommend spending a little extra and buying the version with the leather pouch and cleaning brush because the device is quite small and the case protects it and makes it a little less likely to lose.

It's completely my fault for not reading the description but this is manually operated not battery and it just doesn't do it for me! Although the actual advertisement isn't very clear about this and I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to expect all trimmers to be electric. Until it arrived I didn't even know that manual trimmers were still made.You operate it by turning the bottom half back and forth repeatedly and while it does the job, I found I get better results from its electic equivilant.It cuts well enough and I have no real problems with it, but I don't suffer from excessive hair growth in the nose and ear region so I'm very indifferent about it. However I will not be buyng again and I am lookling to get an electric one next time.

My review on the Groom Mate Platinum XL Plus is as follows the ear and nose trimmer is excellent, better than expected really well made and works really well. I wish I had not paid the extra for the case and cleaning brush as they are not at all complimentary of the trimmer, it is almost as if its the wrong brush as it doesn't all fit properly. Just get the Groom mate its such a jewel there's no need to hide it in a case.

Just don’t buy! Thought an old fashioned mechanical non battery device would be robust and the way forward (for those wirey little buggers ever increasing in length and number) but couldn’t have been more wrong! Save your money for something else guys

This more or less works. I have to say that the beard trimmer on my shaver is more effective, though. Extra star for build quality - it does feel like a precision bit of manufacturing. Good gift (assuming that the person doesn't take offence!), but not something I'd replace if I lost it.

I bought this item a few years ago and it is brilliant and is still functioning today. No batteries required, just patience to use in each nostril. It is easy to clean and because it is small, it is ideal for travel.Great product.

I found the description a little misleading to begin with because it says, "it's a battery-free trimmer", which somehow implies it's electrical in some way. Well, it's not electrical in any way, it's purely mechanical. That being said, it is very good, very sharp and will not nick or cut you in anyway, which is a real bonus!Essentially, it's made up of two parts, a top and a bottom. You hold the top half with one hand and twist the bottom half back and forth with the thumb and forefinger of your other hand to move the blades to create the cutting action.Because you have to use both hands, it's a little tricky to position at first, especially trying to remove ear hair! However, once you get the hang of things, it does a good job; it's better than the electical trimmers.Now I own one and I've used it, would I buy it again? Yes, I think I would.
