Perfect for the handyman
Solid piece of equipment, no play in the grip in tightening up, good size for cutting what is needed, large opening to fit anything into and it’s really well priced and ideal for the handyman, large or small job.

Great Vice For The Hobbyist
I quite like the Silverline brand. They're not a luxury brand but their products tend to be dependable. I wanted a vice as I'd been struggling away on home projects. I didn't actually realise how reasonably priced they are until I started looking. There are very few vices on Amazon cheaper than this - but this had the reviews and the Silverline name. I had to go for it.It's very heavy, as you'd expect. It's not huge but it's big enough for occasional use at home. It was very greasy, I'd imagine that's to preserve the carbon steel from oxidisation. It's been handling the work I've used it for without any complaints or signs of faults. The only drawback is the screw on the lever. It was coming loose and dropping off almost every time I operated the vice. I decided to put some super glue on the thread. It's unlikely I'm going to want to remove it anyway...So yeah, go for this is you need a vice but will only be using it for smallish things from time to time!

Worth the low price.
This sells at different prices under different names & is a generic product. It also comes in 5 & 6ins. Versions. It is cast steel, not forged & is Not iron. I've seen a lot of negative comments about this little vice but as long as you use it within its limitations it is perfectly fine & good value at under £20. If you need to smack it with a 3lbs. Lump hammer or crank it up tight with the power of the Hulk then buy a Forged steel Record vice for 10 times the price; you Do generally get what you pay for. It works for me ie: Occasional, light, hobby use.

Cheap and cheerful
It works but the mechanism isn't very good quality. The jaws are stiff to move and not aligned well. It is ok considered how cheap this is. Will just buy again if it breaks.
