Superb versatile LED light.
I bought this light as an on camera light for video and I am more than impressed. Extremely bright but controllable via a dial on the back either as a coarse or fine adjustment. I used it with NP-F970 batteries which slot in the top, but the fact it can take AA's internally, is a bonus. From a light level point of view, I used a sekonic light meter to measure the output when the light was set at 100%. In addition, as a reference, I also measured what f-stop you would need if using a Canon 7D set at ISO 320 at shutter speed of 50 (25 FPS). Here are the results.Distance, LUX, F-Stop1M, 1900, f/5.012M, 500, f/2.53M, 210, f/1.84M, 140, f/1.45M, 90, f/1.3At it's lowest setting (Just one of the 10 rear intensity indicator LEDS), at 1M,the sekonic measures 200 LUX.The lamp comes with 4 push on GELS:BLUE (100% at 1M == 520 LUX)PINK (100% at 1M == 520 LUX )ORANGE (100% at 1M == 700 LUX)NEUTRAL/OPAQUE (100% at 1M == 1500 LUX)The light comes with a shoe mount and integral screw hole for attaching to either camera shoe mounts or standard light stands. In addition it's supplied with a simple slide on desk stand making it really quick and simple to put this light any where in a room without having to use a stand. If using the light at 100%, it has an inbuilt fan to cool itself down as needed which is slightly noisy and may affect sound recordings if used in a video setup near a microphone. In terms of power consumption, I put a 70% charged NP-F970 battery on top and then set the lamp on at 100%. It lasted as a continuous light for 2 hours at full brightness then kept going for a further 30 mins, but the light level drops. It would have been the icing on the cake to have been supplied with a softbox. Very impressed and will be buying more!

Great light, a must have
Brilliant. Just used it on a shoot. we had 9 arries and this was bar far the light we used th emost. quick to set up, lots of light and battery powered so no wires. The smaller batteries will last about 1 hour on full (The thinnest of the Sony style batteries)The filters are not very good but could be handy and the barn doors don't really offer any flagging but can be used to mount soft cloths, gels etc. But overall i'm really happy with it.

For the money it is pretty great. There is a fan that likes to kick in though.
I have been testing the light for a day or so and so far I feel that for the money this is pretty great, I almost cant fault it. It provides a pretty large amount of light for its size and comes with some filters for the light. You can power this thing pretty easily as well for a decent amount of time (after an hour I used up about half an np-f970. I have noticed that after having the light on for about 7-8 minutes the fan in the light begins to kick on. The fan is not too loud but depending where you place it in the scene chances are the mic is likely to pick it up even if just a little bit. after the fan has been on for about 30-50 seconds (usually) it will usually stop but will start again in about another minute or so. This is obviously going to depend how long you have the light on and how hot the location is. But the fan does like to kick in more frequently after the 15 minute mark. I feel like the fan noise isnt too much of a deal breaker especially for this price range, but if you have the light near to the the subject you are filming you will hear it in the audio so just keep that in mind when purchasing. The light is quite powerful though so I feel like you are able to keep it at a decent distance and not have to worry about not having enough light. The light filters are a nice add too they dont fit to the light all too well but even getting them at all I think is good. Overall its a pretty great light, its powerful, lasts a pretty good amount of time but has a fan that might make getting clean audio a bit more difficult but thats my only real complaint.

These lights kick out an amazing amount of light
Not had an opportunity to use 2 of these yet that I ordered & received v promptly. They appear well made (plastic) but the barn doors are the wrong way round in my opinion... surely the matt black side should face forward? The DSTE batts that I ordered to power these lights (7900 mHa) took overnight to charge (12 hrs) which I guess is about right as they are hi capacity batts. These lights kick out an amazing amount of light, however I think they will need to be used with a diffuser of some kind as it's a harsh light. The plastic ones supplied are not going to be capable of much really - but with a fabric or proper diffuser these should be capable of lighting a fairly largish indoor scene.

LIGHT
The YN216 Light doesn’t come with a battery or charger, hence you have to buy that separately.

Excellent light sorce
Love it. Made shooting much easier. Used in a night club and produced good lighting. It be nicer if it had a snoot or grid, a wireless control and could adjust the light temperature

It melted
My batteries were melting in this light, I initially thought it was my battery but then even after I removed it and put new batteries, it didn't work, the battery ports were rusting.

Good LED light but remember to take out batteries when not using
I do like this LED light. It is very bright, but still not as strong as a strobe flash. It is excellent as a fill/rim/head light. One little issue that I experienced with my LED light is that if I leave all my batteries in the LED light that the light just eats all the battery power even when it is turned off. I arrived at a shoot having tested the light the previous day with the same batteries in it and the light would not work. I thought the light was faulty. Eventually, I popped in 6 new batteries and away she worked again. Perhaps I have a faulty LED light but I managed to fix my problem by just taking all the batteries out at the end of my shoot. I haven't had a issue since.
