The Only Sandwich Toaster you should buy.
Brilliant machine.Very large deep pockets; this will take any size bread you can find to throw at it.It is Commercial STYLE not commercial grade. You get what you pay for here, it is a very good sandwich toaster, looks great and works very well.It is not something you would find in a commercial kitchen, and it is priced accordingly. Unlike many however there is no need to try and hide it in the cupboard when you're done using it, it looks fine on the side. Should you decide to put it away it will stand on back feet but feels a little odd on the balance due to the handles angle and the small feet. The feet double as a cable tidy which helps.Low Medium and High dial on the front, and the heat output is staggering compared to cheaper machines which tote removable plates. The non stick coating works fine, I've manage to cook all sorts in it so far and on the rare occasion the contents do manage to spill out the plates contain it (no cheese dripping down the back and on to the counter) and wipe down easily after use.The handle seems to be a point of contention on here - Yes it is plastic. Two part Thermoset construction (same stuff used to make plug sockets) It's very hard and very rigid. I have not found the need to exert massive force on it however as the plates give ample room for fillings and if pre heated (instructions!) it closes easily. The only down side is the massive size of the plates means it does not tightly crimp the edges of average size bread such as Kingsmill or 'Warburtons toastie' etc. This doesn't seem to be an issue though as the plates are deep enough to take a regular filling without squeezing it all out everywhere. Despite the seemingly un-crimped edges i have not yet had any issues with the contents spilling easily so I'm happy to overlook this one slight niggle. This is a top product, looks the part and works well. I've had 4 different toaster in as many week trying to replace a 15 year old one which died. All have been pathetic either in capacity, heat or non-stick. This one, this one I feel will last another 15 years

Thicker than your average bear. ( Or, Yogi would buy this. )
Being a commercial catering engineer, I didn't expect too much from a domestic unit. I was reasonably surprised at this one as the types I usually play with are 5 to 8 times the price. The heat up time was quite thick, and the thermostat is a nice touch, it cycled throughout the cooking time and kept good temperature. I assume that the "commercial Style" refers to the stainless steel flexible conduit that is used to sheave the power cable for the top element, and the stainless steel cover panel. I have come across a few "genuine commercial" units that use plastic conduit costing over £350, and the plastic falls to pieces in a few months, so the steel is a nice touch. The plates, I will reserve judgement on for the time being, first impression is that the non-stick seems a bit thin, but for the price of the unit, pretty much as you would expect. Although they are labelled as dishwasher safe, I intend to hand wash only, as dishwasher detergent has an adverst affect on aluminium. It does do good toasties though ;))

Finally a decent toastie maker!
After many a poor toastie maker, this one finally does what it's supposed to! It loses a star as the temperature knob feels quite loose and is easy to knock (so best to turn off at the socket, but I do that anyway); would be nicer if it had some level of resistance/engagement. Also the clip on the handle to shut the machine is plasticy, which undermines the solidness of the rest.Although the plates seem designed for bread bigger than most UK loaves, it does a pretty good job of sealing the contents in. If cheese does melt out, it doesn't ooze down the sides of the machine though, so it's all kept clean. Having made about 20 sandwiches now, I can't fault the non-stick, so not sure why others are saying it peels off quickly. I do use a plastic knife to remove the sandwich though and don't wash the plates in the dishwasher.Overall, very pleased.

SOLID, CHUNKY, LOOKS STRONG/BUILT TO LAST - AND FEATURES REMOVABLE TEFLON PLATES!
'Just the ticket..' Here's why:We use it mainly for making 'Cheese n Onion toasties'. Our old one - with NO removable heating plates, was so labourish & messy to clean after use.It was also a slightly too small for many of today's sliced breads; so we had to part cut away their edges. It also leaked molten cheese in some corner areas. In short, "a right pain." I was not glad to see it go.. Bye.This toaster is chunky, IT HAS REMOVABLE PLATES - which release, (c/o pressing a small button on the right hand side), a simple metalsliding catch. It is somewhat larger (and deeper), so it will happily accept a variety of larger bread slices. This means no runny cheese exuding out from the edges. It's looks exactly the same as the 'CuisineArt' (?) but in black: the latter is £5 dearer. Both will be 'Me too' products - outsourced from the samemainland Chinese factory, I'll warrant. We've now used it and it performs very well, with good even, browning. This one can dial-in/fine-tune further, via 3 different heat settings. One very minor gripe: It can be supposedly "stored away on its side.." Nah - free-standing, it will overbalance!
