Fantastic teether and toy - and dishwasher proof!
After some months of use by my now 11 month old, I can confidently report this (along with Sophie La Giraffe) is the 'holy grail' of teething products. Why? First of all, it's interesting to look at and doesn't just resemble the hundreds of other teethers or toys out there. This keeps my little man fascinated, however long he's had it - and he's a fussy little customer, who bores of other toys quickly! The intricate weaves tube design in bright colours is instantly attractive, and the design means whichever angle he approaches from there's something to easily get in his mouth. So that's him happy but, more practically speaking, this also gets two big ticks in the 'love it' column from my point of view - firstly, we discovered it is safe to go in the dishwasher. Hallelujah! It gets so tedious wiping down toy after teether after toy, and many of his other favourites are most definitely not dishwasher-proof. This saves time and effort - much appreciated in times of sleep-deprivation (aka teething).Second 'Mummy' tick - I can take the dummy attachment off my many MAM dummy straps and instead Velcro them around this. Voila! It can now be fastened to my son / his high chair straps / car seat / buggy, meaning I'm not constantly bending down to retrieve it (awkward as I'm now expecting our second little boy)...and that we don't have to take advantage of it's suitability for the dishwasher more often than necessary!Happy baby, happy parents = great value for money. Will be used again by our second little product tester.Only negative - the 'rattle' in the muddle rarely actually rattles, right from day 1 whatever is inside has seemed to get stuck, meaning only an occasional sound. Odd, but he's not that attracted to rattles, so no big deal for us.Overall, a brilliant buy - go get one folks!

Very happy with it
Just a great toy, great to have in the bag for going out. Surprised at how long entertained baby, particularly between 7-9 months. Does take up room, but very easy to clean and great for teaching passing item between hands, very easy for baby to hold

WONDERFUL for babies from a very young age!
My son is now 14 months old. He could hold his Winkel at about 6 weeks, and was always interested in it. It has become a favorite in my family, being passed on from one baby to the next. I bought several for friends with babies. Also, it helped my niece who was born prematurely and had low muscle tone. This was really easy for her to grasp and the bright colors motivated her to reach out and hold it. Recommend this for all babies, ages 1-8 months. Wonderful toy!!!Since purchasing this, Manhattan Toy company has found a special place in my heart, home and gifts. My son LOVES all their products. They are fun, imaginative, creative, high quality and developmental. Visit their website, you will find a plethora of beautiful toys for babies, toddlers and young children!

brilliant toy. recommend!
Brilliant toy. I bought this when my little man was about 4 months and starting grab things. He struggled to get hold of lots of his other toys and would get really frustrated. He found this much easier as the loops were small enough to grasp, the toy light enough to lift and lots of 'opportunities' to get hold of it when coordination isn't great. We now take this to the pool as it floats and he can reach out and grab it a lot easier than say a ball or duck! The plastic loops are quite soft and flexible so if he hits himself in the face it, it doesn't seem to hurt. Rattle isn't super loud but I don't think that's such a bad thing. It's loud enough for baby to hear but quiet enough to not be annoying. Would recommend.

All in all if say it's good
I think my girl likes this. She can easily grab it and bring it to her mouth where she promptly starts to shout loudly at it. Good toy, the jingle noise it makes isnt annoying which is a big bonus where child toys are concerned.

Buy it!
As other reviewers have said - easy for babies to hold (can pick up from any direction); good to gnaw on as is small enough for their mouths; centre cube is a rattle; bright colours; bendy and therefore not only easy to hold but won't hurt if they hit themselves with it; easy to wipe clean which is good as its very popular with his little friends too. We have Sophie the giraffe too, and our 4mth old likes them both. Unlike Sophie this is easy to attach to pram or car seat with a toy tie so doesn't matter if he drops it whilst out & about (nor does it have Sophie's off-putting smell!). Will be buying for friends with young babies.

Basically incredibly interactive
Like all gullible new parents we went ahead and purchased all the highly recommended toys that our boy would "never tire of playing with". As you might expect, he is generally indifferent about most of these 'best' baby toys. But not this Winkle Rattle.Given the price, when the Rattle arrived (promptly as always) we were a little disappointed. It looked very basic and the rattling element barely registered a sound. Our son felt differently. At two-months he immediately grasped the rattle and wouldn't let go. He is six-months now and it remains the go-to toy when his mum and I need to get some chores done. It has been brilliant to watch him developing with the toy, putting it to his mouth and vigorously rattling, but also apparently studying its colours and configuration. All three of us would certainly recommend. For completeness, a practical note: the item is difficult to wipe clean, but we use our bottle brush to clean it in a washing-up bowl and then pop it into the cold water steriliser. Thus far, no signs of damage or water finding its way into the rattle.
