Gas Masks Survival Nuclear and Chemical, Full Face Gas Mask with Activated Carbon Filter

1st Day's use is extremely positive
Setting up a woodworking shop for a 69 year old, retired woodworker for his hobby projects is constrained by the cost of the required tools and protective gear.Trying an inexpensive, cloth Hf dust mask worked somewhat but didn't stop the smallest micro dust.Moving up to the least expensive 3M (nose & mouth, ONLY) respirator fixed that but leaked into the separate goggles, causing them to fog, almost instantly so, that was a waste of money. Please, understand, this was a big improvement and solved the breathing problems over the Hf dust mask but only if I had no eye protection which is why I moved onto the full face mask.Looking at the the 3M full face filter at $110 was just too much for my meager budget. There were numerous clones of this mask so, I selected the one that was available as Prime, next day and had the highest customer rating and ended up costing only $34.34. This model, from China, also included 2 pairs of the round red dust filters and could use other carbon filter cartridges from 3M (although it wasn't stated that way, specifically?).Those red filters do work great for woodworking dust, for me!The first thing I did, when it arrived was to remove the charcoal (chemical) filters from my 3M mask and fit them onto the new, full face clone mask. Note, if you do this, be sure to mark which side of the mask, each of your old filters came from and attach them the same way onto the new full face mask. Turn them counter clockwise to remove them and then, clockwise to install them! Only a small, partial turn is needed.I use those charcoal filters when I am spray painting with spray lacquer which is what they were intended for. So that was important to my purchase selection. It was 61 degrees farenheight, today so, a great day to test if this would be too hot (as I had read in other reviews). Cutting to the chase: This full face mask was nice and cool and never fogged, even though I was clearing out my barn and moving out lots of heavy gear from it so that I was sweating. This has been a very pleasant surprise. Also, the wide field of vision made the experience as if my face wasn't covered, at all.One of the perks of being 69 years old is that I no longer require glasses because when I had my cataract surgery, I requested that they fix my nearsightedness ... they won't promise it will be perfect but in my case, it was! Plus, I had them set my left eye for near vision and my right eye for distance with a special astigmatism correcting lens implant. My brain switches to whichever eye has the clearest view, automatically and as a result, I have perfect reading vision AND better than Eagle vision for distance. This is a long story but you can now appreciate just how important my eye protection is! This face mask provides the best protection AND at a very affordable price. My only negative is that I wasted time (and money) on the two previous solutions! As far as tips go, I was a state certified fireman and just like any full face respirator, it will only seal completely onto shaved skin ... I used to have a beard and mustache and our Scott Airlocks were notoriously leaky over my beard. I'd heard of other firemen smearing their beard with vaseline but I decided it was time for it to go! problem solved.BTW My cough has already stopped after only one day so, it definitely does the job!

In With the Good Air....
Working in musty a environment with a paper mask was terrible. I love the full face clear view and dual filtered mask. Besides my lungs like it too!Clean shaven works the best so... don't expect a good seal and fogging not to present itself...

Worked as it should and just as well as ones costing 2x as much. Good buy.

overall fit and finish is good
For over 40 years I have had to wear full face masks/respirators for work. 3M, North, MSA, etc. This mask is not of the same caliber as the more expensive masks BUT you are only paying about $30.00 instead of $200.00 +. When I received the mask I took a picture of the mask and the included filters. I received what I ordered and all items were in good shape. Before installing the filters, I first put the mask on and tightened the straps and performed a negative pressure test by breathing in so I could test how well the mask sealed against my face. the mask came towards my face which indicated that I had a good seal and when I exhaled the mask returned to its normal state. I did this several times and it worked as I would expect. I also checked to see if the mask face would fog up which it did not during the testing. I installed the supplied filters and put the mask back on and was able to breath normally as you would expect and again no fogging of the lens. below are a couple items that I noticed.1. the supplied filters are NOT for keeping out organic vapors, only dust and other solid particulates.2. For Organic Vapors, Acid Gases and Particulates you will need Respirator Cartridge, 60923 Particulate Filters.3. The mask was large enough to fit an adult face and create a good seal on me. again not all faces are the same shape or size but it did work for me.4. I can see over time that the tabs on the mask that the straps are attached to may fail if you try to pull the straps too tight. I would suggest slowly tightening the mask to the point of a good seal and not trying to overtighten.5. For an inexpensive respirator/mask this is a pretty good deal.

It works
Works perfectly... Doing some DIY on my vehicle and wanted to ensure I protect my lungs. The fit was great even with my little beard. Easy to put together, seems durable, though I haven't dropped it or anything

Not Worth The Safety Risk
I got this for safety, which would be its main usage. The very first time attempting to put it on my face the strap snapped in the back. Well, if the strap didn't break the awkward fit around the nose and mouth, allowing for the passage of unfiltered air into my lungs, it would surely seal the fate of this mask. It offered no protection allowing air to pass unfiltered.
