Proof and Tralle Hydrometer

Works well.

I am dehydrating grain alcohol to use as an extraction solvent. First, I used 3A molecular sieve to break the azeotrope and when I tested the alcohol with this hydrometer, it registered 97%. Thinking my sieve may not have been dry enough, I attempted to dehydrate the alcohol again, this time using anhydrous CuSO4. Again, the hydrometer read 97% and the copper sulfate did not absorb any water and turn blue or clump. I took the alcohol to work and tested it with a NIST traceable hydrometer and it read 100%/200proof.Granted, this is an inexpensive hydrometer set but, considering that it comes with a thermometer and a book of tables for temperature correction, I was expecting it to be more accurate than +- 3%.I have not checked the accuracy of the lower proof hydrometers in this set but the 70-100% one in my set is useless.

The printed instructions included with this are simply ridiculous. It's a bad Google translation from Chinese to English and makes absolutely no sense at all. I gave the accuracy of this unit three stars because with the instructions one has NO idea if you're using it properly or not.This unit also comes as three hydometers plus a thermometer. Since the instructions are unintelligible, everything is guess work and absolutely no fun to use. It also leaves one wondering how accurate the conversion tables are as well.

Works great, but VERY fragile. First set arrived broken, but immediately replaced. For the price it was a good deal. Glass should be thicker, but the price is great.

This is a great hydrometer and it is sold by nice people. My first set arrived with the middle device broken. I notified the seller and very quickly they replaced the entire set. So far, all of my bourbon collection checks with the advertised proof.

These are not the normal you expect to see, very small

These were accurate to all of my off the shelf spirits and the temperature conversion chart made things super easy! 10/10 would buy again
