I bought this as a secondary metal detector for beach vacations. A recently new hobby of mine is metal detecting. Another hobby that makes my wife question her decision making.. I intended to "pinpoint" as the name the name of product suggests. It works very well. I won't hold it against this product for not finding anything on the beaches of North Carolina (my bigger metal detector didn't find anything either). I was successful in finding a rusty nail that, if I had to guess, was dropped when the beach access boardwalk was recently replaces. No treasure chests were located on this trip. I've also used this to find screws I have dropped in the grass, as well as other small metal objects. It also works very well finding screws in piles of sawdust. It is good for any number of other metal location related tasks I have used this for as wwll. I would very much recommend this as a good metal detector that work well when trying to pin point the location of a missing or unknown metal item, regardless of size. Bonus: they provide you with a belt holster, or a lanyard holster, if you're in to that sort of thing. I have not/do not intemd to use those but they appear to be up for the challenge of their intended purpose.

The unit malfunctioned right out of the box. It was alerting while holding it straight out away from everything. I wear a silicone wedding band so it wasn’t that. I changed the battery out from the one that came with it and it still did it for a few minutes. But after after a few days it seems to have corrected and works better than my actual metal detector now! I’d suggest this pin pointer for the price and abilities. It seems very durable (as my wife has dropped it many a time) and even has a belt holster with MOLLE attachments for a tactical bag. Very pleased with it so far.

I paid about $28 for this pinpointer and it has worked great. I had a few issues with the pinpointer which I'll describe. Rechargeable batteries won't fit into the casing; at least not the ones I had. So, I have to use Alkaline. The pinpointer will start beeping incessantly as the battery gets low. You can normally cut off/on the pinpointer and the beeping will stop, but there is no way to cut off the low battery warning.The last issue I had was the pinpointer was that the default mode has the pinpointer both beeping and vibrating, which is more costly to battery life. You have to press the singular button 2x to put it into beep only mode. It's a hassle to switch to beep only mode every time you cut it on! It would be nice if the default was beep only, to prolong battery life.With that said, I was able to pick up items several inches below ground(between 2-4" depending on the target size), and very small items. In addition, the pinpointer has 3 levels of closeness alerts; a slow , moderate, then fast beeping/vibrating when you are basically touching the item. So, if you are can't, or don't want to, spend $100+ for a pinpointer, this one gets the job done! Good luck with your selections, and happy hunting!

So I just started into the hobby of metal detecting. After dropping $500 on a detector plus a few hundred on other accessories, I didn't have the $$$ for a top of the line pinpointer but I soon realized that I needed one.This is fairly cheap and it seems to go through batteries faster than expected...but I didn't keep track of the usage hours. It is NOT waterproof.The only thing I don't like about it is the waterproof bag. It does work, don't get me wrong, but it's somewhat awkward when it's on. I also don't think the bag's tip will last very long. One piece of glass or a sharp rock will end it quickly. After that I'll have to use a heavy duty ziplock bag or something if I haven't saved up enough for the one this is a clone of.It's great for the money, but it's got no frills either.Update: after having this for 34 days, the rubber part of the on/off button just disintegrated and fell into the handle of the pinpointer. Now there's a hole in the side of it that dirt can freely enter as well. This is clearly defective and should be replaced. I can't seem to find a way to contact the seller yet, but the warranty should definitely apply.

I just started metal detecting and after watching several videos understood that it was very important to own one of these pinpointers. So far it has been a lifesaver when it comes to digging up small coins or any other small pieces of metal. Honestly I have no idea how anybody found anything before these things were around. The metal detector will pinpoint down to a certain area but once you dig up a big clump of dirt it's not always so easy to find a Coin that's been buried for years and now matches the same color as the dirt itself. The pinpointer is well made feels good in the hand and works as advertised. The sheet that comes with it is also well built and very sturdy. I have never used any of the higher-priced ones however this one seems to do the job just fine. As stated it is not completely waterproof so that might be a showstopper for some of you that are going to use it in rivers or lakes and so forth. The LED light in my opinion is absolutely useless and I'm really not sure what it's for with the exception of making sure it's on when you're using it. I would highly recommend for anyone starting out as a great economical choice.

Useful even if u are not looking to get rich. Find that lost tool or key 'S. Or the metal rod that eats ur lawn mower blades.
