Levi's Men's 541 Athletic Fit Jeans

I went to my local dept store, tried on 5-6 types of levi's and found that the 541 series in a 34" waist was the perfect fit! So, I went on Amazon to choose from their great selection since my local store only offered one color. I did not even notice that there were so many blends of cotton. After receiving 2 more pairs of 541 in the exact size I had just purchased, I found neither fit. I then realized the cotton blend difference and I learned that with a 98% cotton 541, I'm a 34" waist, when it's a 100% cotton, I'm a 35" waist, when it's 83% cotton, I'm a 33". My personal taste is that anything less than 98% cotton is too stretchy and not the traditional Levi's that I've worn for 40 years. That's why my daughter says I wear "Dad Jeans". This series fits great on my waist, plenty of room in the seat, and I can fit my phone/keys in my pockets with plenty of comfort.

This review is for 3 different colors of the Levi's 541 Jeans.I was very excited to find the 541 fit, I had never tried them on before, and generally have a hard time finding jeans that are comfortable and look fashionable (enough). These are not skinny jeans or slim fit jeans by any means, and for people looking at 541s that is probably not a reality anyway. I am 6'5 and have larger thighs and butt due to athletics and working out my entire life. I can squeeze 511s on in a 36x36, but am left with a baggy waist and thighs that are busting through the seems.For years I wore 505s, I still like them, they are comfortable and not too baggy. But, I wanted to find a pair of jeans that was a little more tapered and fashionable to be worn with a nice shirt or sport coat if need be. I tired some higher priced brands, but its hard to find a 36 inch inseam that you aren't paying over $150 for. Then I found the 541. These jeans are great, more tapered than the 505s but enough room in the seat and thigh to be comfortable. The only downside to these and the reason for 4 stars is the lack of consistency in sizing. In 505s I wear a 34x36, and I read a few reviews that said to go a size up, so my natural thought was try 36x36. I ordered 3 colors, Lake Merrit, Midnight and Rigid Dragon. I will list the sizes and thought below, because I ended up ordering 10 pairs of jeans and returning 7.Lake Merrit - more stretch and give in the waist and thigh. True to size in 505s. 36x36 WAY big, 35x36 a little roomy, 34x36 just right.Midnight - 36x36 too big, 34x36 - very tight in the thighs, 35x36 a little roomy on the waist, but way more comfortable in the thigh.Rigid Dragon - 36x36 initially felt ok- stretched alot too big, 35x36 - ordered a few of this size because one felt tiny and short, and the other ended up being just about right. went with one of the 35x36s.Overall a great product if you have an athletic build and want a more tapered fit.

Ordered two pairs of Levi's 541s, they were cut significantly different in the legs, so fit (or didn't) completely different. Where's the consistency, Levi's? Quality Assurance? Especially for online purchases, this is a major inconvenience, and ultimately ends up costing me time and energy to re-order what should have been more consistently produced in the first place. Where's my refund for that wasted time and effort?

These are great, just be aware that if you're looking for lighter-weight stretch jeans for warmer months, these ain't it. The Lake Merrit style of 541's are the lightest I've come across, at 92% Cotton/7% Polyester/1% Elastane ... perfect for warmer weather. I bought the darker/dressier Husker, at 82% Cotton/16% Polyester/2% Elastane, thinking they would be lighter material like the Lake Merrit's. Not so. I decided to keep them, as they will work nicely for Fall & Winter.I've got 4-5 pairs of 541's, and you never know how heavy / light they'll be until you try them on ... Still in need of a pair of lightweight, medium/dark wash, so please throw suggestions my way if you've got any.

I have regular all denim levi's, and some with the elastane, but its only 1%. they do stretch out and stay that way, its not enough to give it some stretch, out, but not back in. I still like them, and have gotten use to it.but THESE have 28% of this lyocell?- and also 1% elastane, only 70% cotton.theyre horrible- read carefully, that lyocell stuff ruins these. ALSO, they have extra room in waist hips and Thighs!.the look is awful. heard the one "do these jeans make make ass look fat?". Well, These do.and overall theyre just loose everywhere. and they seem short. the waist is loose, theyre loose all the way down to mid-thigh, baggy at top, and tightening around like the knees and skinny jeans from there down.simply awful, just awful. I'm Ok with all your jeans even with elastane, but stay far away from these and anything with that 28% amount of that lyocell.for these to fit me-and I ordered same size all my other jeans-they would have to be one size Smaller waist, and one size inseam longer., then maybe, but wth they make the waist down to mid-thigh loose just gives them an awful look on you. try any other Levis, but dont get these.

The Lake Merritt color 541 is the only one of the nearly 30 different colors offered that has a 92% cotton, 7% Polyester and 1% elastane blend that makes them the most awesome and comfortable jean I've ever worn! I've tried a number of the other colors that have different blends of cotton/polyester/elastane and none of them fit me as well or were nearly as comfortable to me as the Lake Merritt's!

I had been searching for a while for Levi 541s as they give me a good fit.However, it was completely unclear at the point of purchase that there would be additional customs duty payable when they were delivered to UK. The words even said "This is the total price including all VAT".I know customs duty is a separate tax but it should be made clearer at the checkout basket that additional duty is payable - in this case +22% on top of the purchase price ! :-(

Finally found a style of Levis that really fit well. The only drawback was that the seller turned out to be in USA (I am in UK) so I was charged customs duty. WARNING: double check sellers on Amazon.co.uk to make sure that they are in your customs area.

Must be made for the US market! Ordered as advert alleged these are replacement for Levi 508s - therefore slightly tapered, I can assure you that 541s are not and fit more like boot cut clown trousers! Not too sure how they can be termed as ‘Athletic’ fit when they are so baggy. Beware I’m sure there will be plenty size issues as Brexit kicks in and more imports from the US floods in!!

Absolutely swimming around the calves. Best worn with big boots.

Quality jeans that fit well. They have a reasonable amount of stretch in the denim as well.
