~~'Cast down, but not destroyed'~~
The Ryman family appears to be between a rock and a hard spot. It is definitely decision time for them and the choice they make puts all of them in danger and a road filled with the breakdown of society. Remembering as I read this, the EMP has occurred two weeks earlier. The depravity and the lack of human decency is already at a fever pitch.Colton, Madison and daughter Alex will try to get to Jake Allen's Ranch located in Shiloh, Tennessee. It is approximately 440 miles total and normally an easy drive. Not in these times, however. Danger is around every bend in the road and when one least expects it.I truly appreciated the rest stop in the little church by the road when the verse from 2 Corinthians was read aloud by Colton. This, to me, fits the tone of this book perfectly. The portion that I liked is 'we are cast down, but not destroyed'. Everything that transpired from page one until the end fell into that verse. Of course, trust no one was also a key tip in survival of this family. And, it did not take long for all of them to be on the same page concerning trust. The main focus shifted to the safety of their family quickly.I appreciated the strong female characters within the Ryman family. Another one comes to mind, Betty Jean Durham who is the Sheriff of Savannah, TN. But in her case, it is the opposite end of the spectrum! I also appreciated Coach and his Tiger team and Percy who was the 'pilot' of the Saltillo Ferry! Such a wise man...Humor is interspersed frequently which breaks up the intense action contained in the novel. Just imagine singing 'Boom - chucka - boom' for some family entertainment. The Hillbilly Hilton was also filled with some happy moments. And, as is normal with this author, lots of tips concerning survival are contained. In this one, there are multiple tips on 'reading people' and their intentions.Another excellent read and looking forward to the next installment in this one. Most highly recommended.

Two Weeks after a CME, How Bad Could It Be?
Turning PointJust two weeks after a CME, how bad could it be after all the US is not some third world country, it is civilized and despite those that strive to drive wedges between us we are one nation under God.Through all their crash course in prepping and survival, one family had seen how a small segment of society freaked out and how those with evil intent had taken advantage of the lawlessness, but these must be isolated cases, right?Surely if they got away from the densely populated areas things would be different, just how different they have no idea.If you have read 36 Hours and Zero Hour, if not do so before reading Turning Point, you know what a family totally unaware of the concept of preparing for the worst may go through even given fore warning of a disaster. But in Turning point that rather mild learning through books and learning the hard way takes a plunge into the deep recesses of human kind, waiting just fourteen days to make the decision to leave their populated community may well have been too late.Decisions made for their safe (?) route turn out to be both blessings and disasters, those who you least expect to be villains turn out to be just that, and some of those who you’d expect to shoot first do not.Two bit politicians are determined to let no tragedy go to waste, and strive to build a kingdom from the common façade of helping people, while giving them the shaft for their own gains.Be prepared to go on a roller coaster ride of adventure, tragedy, kindness, comedy, and heartless cruelty as the Rymans try and run the gauntlet of rural America to reach what they only hope will be a safe haven. Enjoy

Almost 3 a.m. and I have to STOP until morning...The end of each book kept me going but I "think" maybe I can wait until I catch a few winks since the group has made it to Shiloh!!!
It seems like I go from one great series to another since I took a COVID driven sabbatical from my usual $16.95+ bestsellers by Baldacci, Grisham, Lee Child, Clive Cussler, Brad Thor, and Dean Koontz, etc. I have been amazed at the plethora of "totally outstanding books" available for free with new authors or through Kindle Unlimited! I have had the pleasure of reading some through purchases in the past as with several of Bobby Akart's series (all outstanding!), likewise with Nicholas Sansbury Smith and his series, Shayne Silvers, Tom Abrahams, and a number of others that slip my sleep deprived brain at the moment. And as my daughter starts work again tomorrow and we can stop making ends barely meet (even having to skip my meds and meals at times...) on Grandma' s Social Security... I feel sure a few months down the road, Good Lord willing and Covid and election cooperate, I will be able to enjoy my old favorite best sellers again.... However, I do now have another list of author's I enjoy every bit as much and will be continuing to read without a doubt! Now Mr. Akart, allow me to thank you for another almost sleepless night reading yet another of your spell binding and thrilling series.... (yawn, excuse me!) Be back in the morning!!!

Tedious and foolish
Good grief! I can not believe the number of positive reviews about this book. I was interested enough in the first book to get the second to see what happened. That was less than great. Book three is just ridiculously tedious. Did the author just forget the story he had been telling? The reader does not need to know the life story behind every single new character that is introduced. The mayor of the town is scum. Got it. The family is scum as well. Move on with the story already! Don’t think I have skipped whole chapters in a book before. In this case I skipped numerous whole chapters. Unfortunately I had ordered the last three books while reading the first book, So I started the last book thinking surely the author went back to telling the story. But no, the first few pages show that it is far worst. Instead of being a post apocalyptic story it is nothing but a story about a friendship between country musicians. Do not waste your time.

All 3 books so far
On the good side , I couldn't put these books down and completed all 3 in 2 days! I love the build up and preparing, and the various stages of the experience. Being hooked with the first book, I didn't envisage that the next two would be equally brilliant. I love all the characters with the main characters being ordinary people, having faults but good morals, love and respect. I have learned lots too even though I have read many apocalyptic books. The not so good is you revealed who killed who in walking dead series 7 which I hadn't anticipated and I am only as far as beginning of series 6 :-(. Plus I got no work done this weekend....oh wait that's not a bad thing!! Thank you Bobby for this excellent series and I'm ready for the next one.

I'll Be Reading The Next
2 weeks after the event that crippled the electricity grid the family is off to safety. It's a road trip across a country that has been thrown back 200 years. The authorities are gone or overwhelmed and opportunists and the criminally inclined are out to play. Ambushes, traps and a family not certain who can be trusted and who will attack them. Showcases why I'm a fan of civilisation. One of the things done well in this series is that the family aren't professional preppers or survivalists and are caught out using pre-appocolypse thinking in several situations. No hints of what's happening with the government or the rest of the world.
