Not your mother's sunscreen. .
I take ingredients very seriously. Especially for things I put on or in my body everyday. I've started getting this sunscreen auto shipped every two months, as a way to hold myself accountable with daily use regardless of my activity, and to avoid needing to buy something on impulse.I've done plenty of research and ended up here with Stream2Sea. (Past products ingredients changed and have pollutants and endocrine disruptors, no thanks)I use the Yuka app to compare and dig deeper into ingredients of cosmetics and food as a jumping off point, it's been invaluable. This sunscreen goes a LONG way. It is said you need about a shot glass worth for your entire body, unlike run-of-the-mill sunscreens that you need to lather on to get a good layer of coverage. That's why I don't mind paying more for less product that is quality & safe. For me and for the ocean.I have fair skin and can burn easily but I'm more concerned these days with sun exposure in general because skin cancer is so common and living in Florida feels much different than living in Michigan, ha!So, to sum up, start with less and blend, blend. The white cast you might end up with will fade and with regular use you can mostly avoid. For my face I use Fuka Eri. It's a Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide non nano vegan formula that's reefsafe and cruelty free.I keep it just outside on the back porch so it stays soft for easy application and the tinted version I cut with a tiny bit of coconut oil so it goes on like moisturizer and makes the product go farther avoiding unnecessary waste. 🙂Hope this review helps. ☀️🧴

The best reef safe sunblock
Many chemically based sunscreens are toxic to coral reefs and fish. This is a mineral based sunscreen, so it is safe to wear around a reef when diving or snorkeling, and is probably much safer for humans. I burn easily and apply 50 spf at home in VT while gardening, very generously and often and still have quite a tan by the end of the summer. I used this 30 spf so I did not contribute to reef and fish death. This product stays on and protects better than spray sunblock. It has no odor. It is not at all greasy and washes off pretty well with soap. It is easy to reapply even on whey skin. It does rub off on clothes and bathing suits and leaves you a bit white, but that lets you know if you missed a spot. I like it enough that I am switching to using it at home for gardening, when I wear old cloths and dont care what it looks like. I would not wear it to a party! Worth the higher price

Great product but...
Great sunscreen BUT goes on like paint. It was very difficult to look normal with this applied (ghost face was real!) This type of screen works immediately, no need to apply 30 minutes before exposure.

Not worth the price or sustainability
Okay, I never write reviews in general, but this sunscreen was a huge no-go for me. To begin, the 3oz container was priced SO high for such a small amount. The bottle wasn't even filled all the way. When I first started applying some, my friend noticed that it wouldn't rub into my skin at all. Left a horrible white cast even after being in the ocean. No matter how hard I rubbed it, it just stuck to my skin and never really got absorbed. After noticing this, I thought, "Oh, maybe that means it'll do an extra good job of protecting my skin from the sun." Spoiler; It didn't. I re-applied every 3-4 hours and still had a splotchy, painful sunburn all over my shoulders, arms, and both sides of my legs. I don't recall having a sunburn to this extremity before whilst using sunscreen. I would leave photos, but that's kind of weird. I wanted to leave this review to let people know you are choosing between the reefs or yourself. Sure, it has a great chemical makeup to not harm the ocean, but it seems like it never considered the person using it. Save your money.

Good If You Don't Care About Ghostly Pallor
I referee soccer, so I need a really good sunscreen for my face, neck, lower arms, and the front and back of my knees; everything else is covered up. I read about this sunscreen on a list of super environmentally friendly sunscreen products and thought I would give it a whirl. It's adequately priced for a mineral-based product. It also protects well; I had it on in full sun for about 5 hours last weekend, and while I got more tanned, I did not get burned. That's the good part. The bad part is that I looked like Casper the Friendly Ghost Ref. This stuff goes on white and stays white. I think if I was on a beach, I wouldn't mind so much. But being out and around people, yeah, it was a little much. It looks like I had sunscreen on that I just hadn't rubbed all the way in, but there was no amount of rubbing that would have made this stuff absorb and more/faster. Maybe I used too much and that was the issue. Regardless, it made me look pale, even after hours of sweating. If you're okay with that, this is a great product. If you are looking for sunscreen that can't be seen, look somewhere else. I'll give this another shot and use less next time to see if that makes a difference. As it is, however, this will not be the first bottle for which I reach.
