EZVIZ EZMINTRPB1G8 Mini Trooper Base Station with Wireless Camera

This is an update to the first review: This is expensive junk. I have a total of three cameras on the base. They worked for a few days and they all stay offline. Totally worthless. When I get them online. Which is very difficult. They are offline again within the hour. It’s frustrating. There is no quality control and they are made in China. I would not recommend them to anyone unless you just have a lot of money to throw away. This is one of my worst purchases ever.This is the most difficult camera I have ever tried to install. I have several different security cameras and had to have my adult son install it. I have two additional cameras which I purchased earlier and did not know that you couldn’t use them without the base. Instructions are minimal. One camera is offline and there is no option to get it back online again. I’m hoping that there will be some updates soon. The two cameras online have good pictures and good sound but there is no way to communicate with anyone. You can only listen. I would really appreciate instruction that are easy to follow. I would like to be able to get the third camera back online.

I have 2 of the EZVIZ mini o for indoors. Love them both. Needed one for outdoors and debated between the Trooper and Husky. I decided to go with the wireless one due to location.And as with the other cameras I have, video quality is excellent. Same with motion detection options.The main drawback for me is it only records for 10 seconds. Period. Sorry but by the time someone walks up to the door and turns around, the recording stops. Does not have time to record the frontal view of when they walk away. Hence their face is never seen.I understand this is due to saving battery life (which I've had to replace after 5 weeks) but giving us various options on the length of recording, as with motion detection, would be a great improvement. If there is no upgrade for this in the near future, for me this camera is rather useless then. It stops recording when I need it the most.Plus the batteries went from 98% to 90% to 86% to 81% over the few weeks. Not bad I thought.Then I get message camera is 'offline'. So after messing with it, trying to get it to sync again, noticed battery bar was on red. I was like what happened to the 70%, 60%, 50% before it hit zero? It went from 81% one day to being offline the next.Anyhow, replaced batteries and camera is back up and running. Hope these will last longer plus give better battery reading.Just wish the recording lasted at least a minute rather than 10 seconds.Please, on the next upgrade, take this into consideration. Would love to change it to 5 stars instead of 3.- - - - -Sept. 27, 2018ETA: Dropped it down to 2 stars....Had to replace batteries AGAIN. Second time since I got it in June. Tried disabling notifications to save on batteries.Except cant do that as on the mini, due to it not recording at all. So turned notifications on and already batteries down 10% after a week.So them claiming about 9 mos. battery life isn't accurate. Or at least not on mine.And even tho notifications are "ON" it does not always record. Very frustrating. So not sure why batteries run down so fast.Hate to say this, but may return it. Not working out as I hoped it would. Very disappointed.

So I don’t know if I just have a perfect situation, but I have had much better results than many of these reviewers. I have had this for almost two years and haven’t had major problems; I have replaced the batteries twice, am able to see things happening in the hallway of my condo building, and it’s just been easy.

We are having the hardest time getting this thing to work properly. When it works, it's great, but now it only goes off when one of us comes home. Nothing else triggers it. Not the other car, not the dog, not my stalker. Not cool.

I have been director of IT for 12 years and worked in the technology field since 2000. I know wifi, networking, servers, storage, security, cctv and so on. I have an MBA, an MCSE, a CISSP and a PMP. I think my experience and credentials establish that I am not an idiot when it comes to technology.I bought this device to check that my daughter gets on her school bus. I am located in a rural area, the bus stops by our home. I placed the station by a window in a room across from our Wifi Router. The wifi signal is good between with Wifi Router and the base station. The camera is 100 feet away from the base station on a tree under the "green belt". The wifi between the base station and the camera is good.The system works but not all the time. When it works, the picture and the sound are good. But most of the time, especially when it is needed, the system just does not work. I get "Video play failed, error code 245452".I also bought from EZVIZ 2 Mini 360, these work very well. They are reliable, they provide good audio and pictures. So, the company has good products but I would love to get my money back on this Mini Trooper wire-free as it is just a piece of crap.To resolve my problem, I will be buying an outside Wifi entender, external CAT6, electric cords and 2 outside EZVIZ cameras.

Please don't buy this product, it sucks butt. I too like many other reviewers have solid IT experience and it took me over 4 hours to install this thing. It just doesn't work as it was intended.After installing and setting everything up, the battery dies every 2 months and them suckers are expensive. After the battery die, and I put new batteries in, I have to reset the entire system. Man, wish I would have returned this soon as it gave me problems. I knew when it took my 4 hours to install that it wouldn't be a good investment but I got too lazy to return it.
