almost awesome
I bought this for my parents to bluetooth enable an older TV. I had to use the coaxial audio connection due to their equipment. It works great IF you are willing to toggle the rate-coding switch on the unit every time the bluetooth connects.Details: Whenever I paired at first, the audio was very slow (voices sounded lower). I toggled the rate switch on the unit which is supposed to switch between 44khz vs 48khz and this resolved the issue and it sounded good. However every time the bluetooth reconnects it reverts back to the original slow/low audio and I have to manually toggle the switch...every time. This is a deal breaker for my parents as they are non technical and want something that just works.

A nice little transmitter at a good price.
I tested with both optical out from my TV and aux out from an MP3 player, and both worked perfectly. In my opinion, this is best suited to permanent installations such as with TV systems since it supports staying on perpetually, unlike lots of other transmitter/receivers that automatically shut down to conserve battery power when no device is connected for a certain amount of time, but it is certainly small enough that it would work fine portably, too.If I had any criticisms, it's that you can't adjust the volume from the device itself. If you have a TV or other device that doesn't support variable volume on audio out, it might be a consideration you want to keep in mind depending on your setup.

Coaxial Input Unusable
If you are trying to use the coaxial input on this device, it is probably unusable. Look carefully at the photos supplied with this device listing. You can see that the coaxial input connector is recessed into the device. However, most high quality coaxial input cables have a tapered shield (outer part of connector). This prevents the cable from being inserted into the connector. I have Belkin and AmazonBasic cables. Neither will work. I am not sure that a non-tapered high-quality cable can be connected to this device. If you are looking for a coaxial audio connection on a Bluetooth transmitter, I would look elsewhere.

Remote speakers or headphones for ageing parent
Using the SPDIF port on the TV means that the volume of the TV speakers can be adjusted with the remote when that makes sense, and the SPDIF / Bluetooth / Bluetooth receiver / powered speakers, can be adjusted with the level control on the speakers. The two don't have to interact or match or be related in any way other than program content. This makes it a lot easier to watch TV in an easy chair without having YOUR volume level be a problem for others. Turn the TV down all the way and listen on the local speakers. Works very well.

Optical Interface worthless, but mini-plug ok
The optical interface on this device is basically unusable, the long audio delay being the least of its problems. The sound itself is just terrible, varying from random pops and clicks to constant loud clicking noises. Surprisingly the mini-plug interface is actually decent with minimal (acceptable) audio delay and no popping/clicking noises. The performance while using the mini plug is why I give this device 2 stars and not 1. So if you're going to use the mini plug then this might work for you, but if you're going to use the optical interface then definitely pass on this device.

Great Value and it WORKS !
Needed a way to connect a soundbar to my TV even though I did not have bluetooth on my TV. I read about this gadget, and was excited to think I could finally make the connection, so I ordered it, and followed the instructions hooking up fiber optics cable to my soundbar. It worked perfectly, and since I am on a strict budget, I got it done for $20.00 ! Whats not great about that ?

This works just as expected (I only used the optical input connection, but I'm sure all the other inputs would be fine too). It connected to my headphones without any issues and I didn't notice any issues with the sound quality (initially there was, but you just have to move the switch to the other setting as indicated in the instructions).

Has difficulty pairing properly with Hesh 3
Difficult for this item to pair with my headphones. Works OK for awhile then it begins making strange noises and lip sync is way slow. Follow their instructions and sometimes it works and sometimes not. My headphones are about 8ft line-of-sight to this unit.
