More than 900 children between 1 and 14 die each year in drowning accidents. In California, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children 1-4 years of age. But, do you really need these statistics to convince you to do everything you can to prevent this from happening to your child or grandchild? The POOL ALARM is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when children or pets fall into your unsupervised pool. It's portable, self-contained and light weight. The unit is simple to operate. Entry into the pool will be detected by the Pool Alarm's electronic sensor, triggering a loud pulsating alarm at the unit and inside your house from the remote receiver. The Pool Alarm installation is very easy. It sits on the pool deck as shown in the picture. After you install the Pool Alarm, it can't be deactivated; it is always in the alarm ready mode until you put it in Sleep Mode. If someone who does not know how to put the Pool Alarm in sleep mode attempts to remove the alarm, it will sound an alarm. The Pool Alarm comes with a remote receiver which can be mounted in your home up to 200 feet from the main unit. It comes with a 12 volt power supply. The Pool Alarm uses one 9-volt battery (not included) which should last approximately one year. There is an audible low battery indicator which will sound at the poolside alarm and the remote receiver.

Missing parts
This box came with several parts missing- no handle and no magnetic key. I ordered it new from amazon but it looks used as there is a sticker that is half peeled off. I can't speak to how this works because I can't use the product. There is no customer service number to call either.

Dont buy this cheap imitation
This product, Pool Protector by Tranqulity is obviously an imitation of the Pool Guard product,be careful if looking at which one you are buying, in the pictures they look the same. The alarm after repeated testing would not function, The alarm light did not work so you did not know what mode the unit was in. The sticker over the light looked to have been partially ripped off the face plate. The reset button did not seem to function. The alarm would not sound after repeated testing, we did get it to work once but then the unit would not shut off with the magnetic key, I had to take the batteries out to get it to shut off, very poor product, very very poor written instructions.

Where is the UL or ASTM references
Don't buy a pool alarm unless it is UL & ASTM 2208 tested and approved. The market is flooded with cheap knockoffs that look like the real products. If there is not reference to the UL and ASTM standard save your money and buy a different product.
