Stay safe behind the plate with these Champion Sports 18" Ultra Light RHINO-TEK Baseball Umpire's Leg Guards. Made with ultra-lightweight plastic and vented RHINO-TEK foam, these compact shin guards provide impressive comfort and mobility without sacrificing protection. Snap-lock buckles hold the leg guards firmly in place, while the toe extension helps to prevent foot injuries and comes off easily if the guards will be worn with plate shoes.

Cheap and good fit for an 6ft adult
After taking a line drive to the shin while playing softball, I ordered these (I'm the pitcher). They were cheap and light weight compared to other brands. It does have some padding and the hard plastic is flimsy. With that being said, it did its job the first time I wore it and stopped me from being in pain after recieving another line drive (those things come back at you REALLY fast). Sure chicks dig scars and the other guys will give you crap over wearing them, but I rather take the jokes over being in pain. If this review was helpful, go ahead and click that button.

Durable! Used for woodcutting
I use these for tree felling, woodcutting, and wood splitting. This is an off-label use. Very durable and easy to attach. Do not slip down the knee!! Padding for kneeling on the ground to cut up logs. I have not cut into these with a saw yet, but these are far more durable than the cheaper/thinner shin and knee guards I have been using. These are also the first ones to not fall down off my knees while I am working. I use chainsaw chaps for cut resistance and these as a first line of defence and to protect my shins from rolling logs and branch slap-backs.

Initial Thoughts [updated]
Seems good so far. Came on time, arrived well packaged, clean and in perfect shape. Bit bulkier and heavier than expected, but I didn't read the description, so thats my fault. Don't see any major faults as of now, but will update once ive done a few games in these. Seems to be a great value, high quality shin guard. Well done[edit, post first game] Bulkiness ended up being a bit of an issue. Ended up going a good 6-8 inches above my knee, maybe a third the way up my thigh, too long for my liking, although I am much shorter than average, so your experience will likely be different (i am about 5’4). Also ended up being generally a bit large for my plate pants, could hardly put my pants on or take them on, regardless of weather I put them on before or after I strap these shin guards on.Although, they do provide good protection and are pretty comfortable, my opinion has dropped a bit of these. I would recommend these to any umpires who do not have the ability to buy a better pair, who is taller than me.

Not for taller people, but great for everyone else
Fantastic shin guards. I've taken multiple knocks and haven't felt a thing. They don't twist or shift while being worn, and the padding dries easily after games. The only problem I've found, and this is my own fault for not specifically finding a larger pad, is that they're very short on me. I'm 6'4", and the pads will naturally come to rest on top of my plate shoes, which is fine, but the knee pads then rest below my knee and the upper knee/thigh pad covers the knee itself. One day I will take a shot in the knee where the junction between the knee and thigh pad meet and that will convince me to buy new ones, but they would be absolutely perfect if I were a bit shorter.

Catcher’s Shin Guards
I pitch on a men’s senior softball team and certain players are allowed to use composite bats. The balls hit off these bats can come bat at a pitcher at a high rate of speed. Sometimes you can’t bend down fast enough to stop the ball coming at your feet. So to protect this area and still be mobile shin guards are excellent device to protect the legs and shin areas. May look dumb but I don’t want to get hurt. Concern pitcher

Exactly what we were looking for
I bought these for my husband to wear during pitching practice for our son. They're exactly what we needed after a few missed catches and bruised legs.

Just as described
I have used these when I cut firewood.Keeps my shins from getting hit by small pieces of firewood being grabbed and launched at them by the chainsaw.

Awesome
I love these chin guards. At first I was hesitant but because they float. It is the best thing without straps behind the knee.
