Thick in some areas but they eliminate hot spots and blisters. Worth the investment!
First some background so you know where I'm coming from: I run in New Balance women's WX608V3 cross training shoes, size 9B. They're clunky shoes, not a minimalist running shoe by any means, but they're the best running shoe I have found in terms of arch support. I'm fairly new to running, only up to 3 miles 2-3 times a week, and I was wearing mid-weight cotton socks and frequently getting hot spots and blisters. One of my friends told me cotton was a HUGE mistake for running and suggested I look into synthetic. I already have (and like) a couple of pairs of the Thorlo hiking socks, so I started with this brand. I don't have a lot of experience with other specialty running socks. So far these socks are worth the investment. I bought one pair and washed them inside out (as recommended on the packaging) before wearing. I did my usual run and did not get a hot spots or blister and my feet stayed cooler and dryer. The toe and heel area of these socks (basically the gray areas in the picture) are pretty thick with padding, although the rest of the sock is thinner. As I said, I used to run in mid-weight all cotton socks, so I didn't have to change the lacing on my clunker shoes too much to fit these, but if you are used to wearing super thin socks or have tighter fitting / more streamlined shoes these socks may be too thick for you.I only have one pair, so even though I've only had them a few weeks I've washed and dried these socks probably a dozen times already, always inside out as recommended. They look and feel as good as new, and judging by the Thorlo hiking socks I have (and have used for years) these socks will hold up well. I'm considering buying another pair just so I don't have to remember to wash them after every run!UPDATE: Got two more pairs for Christmas and still happy with them. My first pair are almost a year old and still as good as new through weekly washing / wearing.

These are nice socks, nice padding, comfy.
These are nice socks, I saw a few reviews that weren’t good even tho thorlo has a good reputation. They fit fine, I eat a size 7 shoe and ordered a medium. Great padding on ball and heel for jogging and walking, I immediately purchased another pair and may order another. I ordered for my husband too, he likes them.

You’ll keep track of these saviors!
I’ve worn this style Thorlo sock for years. They’re the most comfortable, well-made sock I’ve worn. I have broken sesamoids, bone spurs and fight plantar fasciitis due to years of running long distance. I wear orthotics in my shoes, which are a bit ridged. These socks provide padding for my aching feet, as well as support for my arch. They last many years. Worth every penny! You’ll keep track of these saviors!

Fine socks, poor packaging
The sock fabric looked coarse but proved quite comfortable as it stretched to fit the foot with well located padding. Quality construction. I deducted one star because each pair of socks was loose in its own cardboard sleeve, no little plastic tie to hold a pair together, and my order arrived with one sock missing from the box.

Now I'm hooked on fancy socks
Honestly, I was thinking if I had tons of money I would just wear socks once while they're all nice and soft, then throw them away. Then it occurred to me to buy pricey socks and see how that works out. I love Thorlo socks. They retain their elasticity and their shape. They are extremely comfortable and I love them. I hope someday to replace all the inferior socks in my drawer with this superior sock. It's one of those luxuries that's actually worth the money; not only for the comfort of your feet but for the quality and durability of the product. They really are excellent socks. If you also are excited about socks, these will really make your day.

Super comfortable, great heel padding
Fantastic cushioning; bought them to deal with heel pain when running and they really help. On the negative side, they're hot due to the extra padding, and I've never paid so much for a single pair of socks before. But they are definitely the most comfortable running socks I've ever tried. No chafing or blisters even on 80-degree plus days. They're thinner at the top of the foot where you don't need the padding, and thicker at the heel and forefoot. I wear size 8 street shoes, size 9 Nike Pegasus, and these fit perfectly. Snug enough to not move around when running, but too tight, and the material is very soft. I'm buying another 2 pairs.

So-So
Honestly, I wanted to love these. But for the price, I think the material is chintzy, I have worn them 3 times and it is already starting to pill. The cushion is good, I got it to cushion my feet at work, and to help cushion a tailor's bunion. They are ok, but truly nothing special, and the material was not as high quality as I would have expected.

My favorite socks
I am a teacher who also loves to explore and travel. These socks are my go to for work and a must in my backpack when I travel. They support where you need a little extra cushion and are breathable when worn for long periods. I also appreciate that the logo isn't on the ankle and when worn just look like black socks with all the comfort on the inside.
