Every person who hasn’t used a Ferrocerium striker needs to practice it a little bit, it can be frustrating at first, but once you get more experience you will get better and better at it, As perfectly demonstrated by the frustrated learner who uploaded there video. He obviously had no patience and took the easy root, by just giving up and then bad naming a really great product in frustration.Just a tip, by sanding off black carbon coating increases the sparks 10 fold. find the sharp bur on the metal striker, push it into the Ferrocerium rod and down hard away from you directed at your chosen kindling, and plenty of sufficient igniting sparks you will have. The black carbon coating I believe is a safety feature, as to reduce the chance of the ferrocerium rod having any ignition due to undue accidental abrasion, but this would be a very rare circumstance to happen, so in my opinion it’s s worth doing if you want the best performance from it.I’ve been bush crafting for years and this Ferrocerium striker is one of the best ones I’ve come across.👍10/10 to ember rock.

I've bought and used many firesteels but this New Ember Rock XXL. Is by far the best I've had, after testing it today starting a wet and a dry fire. You get loads of sparks enough to get a wet fire started with just a few strikes on your best kindling base. Also it comes with a paracord wrap and multi striker. Great for camping, hiking and those great campfires. Happy to recommend and endorse and will be buying again.

This is the 2nd Ember rock I’ve purchased now. The first one works amazingly and still has plenty of life in it yet but I thought I’d get another one. I’ve been steadily building up my survival gear since the start of the pandemic. I love the size of this Faro rod and have lit a fire with it using fat wood outside at night in the pouring rain. Sleet rain or snow, this Faro rod will always give it a go😉

Quality piece. After removing the black outer coating you have to hold the striker the right way around. I found if I hold it so the Ember Rock name is facing upwards it works, facing downwards is doesn't. I use one long stroke from about he middle of the bar to the end, it works fine. Although there is a knack to it, it gets easier and easier.

The rod was delivered quickly and was well packaged. It is everything that I expected, except for a whistle.I haven't used it as it's for my bug out bag, but it's very solid and looks the part.I like it because it has some paracord and has a hole in the top, so it can be put on a lanyard.When I test it I'll update the review.

Bought this purely on a whim as a "nice to have" when out for a day's hiking. Only tried it out on shavings in the garden so far but pleased to report it worked really well. The scraper has a rough edge on one side and it's important to use this facing the rod when using.In short a well made item that does exactly what it says on the tin. But do take some time to scrape off the protective coating to get the best out of it.
