Makes you search for more....
This very book gives an outstanding overview of the grittiest moments in the history of the Wild West. All of the sudden, you are there, on the battlefield, with the people traveling west, surrounded by Black Feet, or in the arms of an old pappa Ephraim....The stories are short, but well-written. If you are not an expert on the Wild West and you wish to explore the grounds to find out where to go next, the book points out what might be really interesting for further study. Or just have fun when reading it on holliday. You are going to enjoy the safety of your armchair when reading it (.....)

I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the old ways ...
Although this book was purchased for my son-in-law for his birthday, I did sneak a peek at it. And it is quite a book for the adventure minded from a bygone era. When man and beast were pitted one on one, without the help of a high powered rifle with an even higher powered scope. I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the old ways of the old days.

Quick and Easy introduction to Mountain Man Lore
A series of short vignettes covering the 19th Century West. A few interesting revelations such as one of the men who abandoned Hugh Glass was Jim Bridger; Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight were the basis of the Lonesome Dove saga; andjohn "Liver Eater" Johnston was the basis of Jeremiah Johnson in the Robert Redford movie. Lots of stories of "grizzly" ends.
