Great slicer for the price.
I have used this slicer several times since it arrived. I have had no problems with it what so ever. I was a bit hesitant to purchase it due to some previous bad reviews; however, I'm glad I didn't let them sway me.The slicer is perfect for small home jobs. I primarily use it for slicing home-made bread, and it works wonderfully. I have also used it to slice raw chicken breast (it does work better if the meat is partially frozen), pork tenderloin and tomatoes. It slices evenly and clean up isn't difficult. My only complaint/wish is for a food catching tray on the back of the slicer to catch your finished product. If you do a lot of heavy duty slicing, this is not the slicer for you. I don't think I'd want to attempt full sized roast beef, etc, but for average/occasional use, this is just right. If you want a heavy duty slicer, be prepared to spend a whole lot more money. If you want something that is convenient, compact, easily cleaned and stored - something for light weight kitchen slicing, then by all means, purchase this slicer!

Bread slicer
I bought this slicer in order to cut my homemade bread with, and for that purpose it works okay. It's very light weight and you can easily take it apart for cleaning. This is also helpful for storage as it takes up much less space than one of the more expensive deli-type food slicers. My only complaint with this machine is that the part that slides back and forth wasn't really designed to accommodate a normal 1.5lb loaf of bread. When you try to slide it out far enough so the whole loaf fits next to the blade the moving plastic part gets caught on the side of the machine every time you slide it back towards the rotating blade. This is very annoying and makes the cutting process not smooth at all. But I guess for the price you can't expect more than that.

Does its job well for the money
Did buy the Rival 1042W instead of EdgeCraft 610 to save on counter space in my kitchen. Of course, there are different usage scenarios between those two. My application: slicing mainly bread, some cheese, and sometime sausages (no cold cut).Plastic construction makes the 1042W small and light weight, however yields a certain flex. Hence, slices will not be perfectly even in thickness if one rushes while slicing.Pro:- DOES ITS JOB!- Small, light weight- Sharp blade (new), worked through my cheese block- Easy to clean: movable parts can be easily taken apart for cleaningCon:- tray could be a bit larger (does not hold my, admittedly wide, bread completely)- tray can not be folded for smaller storage- tray could be higher so food hits the blade centered. This would improve slicing precision for the cut finish. Right now, I have "hanging ends" and have to rotate the food once every few slices to avoid it. I think, this is a very typical problem for food slicers in that category.bottom line: would buy it again given the same set of alternatives, constraints and usage scenario.

Had high hopes but . . .
I had really high hopes for this item but it's on its way back to Amazon now. The whole thing is pretty flimsy. Great idea to have it fold up but the blade isn't very sharp and doesn't turn fast enough to really be useful. I guess we'll have to keep looking.

Slicer review
This item is just o.k. It does slice the cheese, salami, etc., but not necessarily evenly. It also is difficult to hold the meat, cheese, or whatever and press the button and move it to slice all at the same time. It really works better if two people are doing the operation. It also takes some doing to take it apart and wash all the parts after use. I would definitely not have ordered it if I had known how much trouble it would be to use.

does a decent job!
The electric food slicer does a good job, but then we only use it as a bread slicer. The slices come out nice and even. The cons would be it's noisy , needs two to operate it smoothly because the slices keep getting stuck and it's a little difficult to clean.I suppose for the price it pretty much gets the job done :)

Meat Slicer
It works great, easy clean up, easy to use. My family will be eating healthier by making our own lunch meats from leftover roasts, turkey, etc. It is much faster than trying to slice lunch meats, cheese, etc by hand.
