American Music: A Panorama, 5th Concise Edition

I had a 3rd edition, and found that in the 5th edition there was hardly anything that was different. This is a common problem with authors. They get a good text (and this is a good text), and they do not update it. They are simply happy to get the royalties. There is hardly anything about the 21st century in this book. Current students do not know or identify with performers that were popular before they were born. I think that a big revision needs to be done with this book. My music and american culture class required this text book, it was rarely used, seems like a interesting read and provides a lot of cultural context to genres and time periods.

The option states that it’s new book purchase and the price matches it being new. The book I received is very used and it did NOT come with an access code.
