All Things New - Bible Study Book: A Study on 2 Corinthians

Better studies available!
I did not enjoy this bible study, and would not do another study with Kelly Minter. Her writing style was not good for me. I kept wishing she would just make her point! I also felt that she expected her audience to have a background of growing up in a church environment and that she assumed her readers/viewers had comprehensive knowledge of scripture. I do bible studies to learn the scripture, so I often felt lost or confused. I hope others are blessed by her work, but if you are a new believer or someone that does not have a background in church/scripture I suggest looking at Beth Moore or Priscilla Shier for a study. Those two women have a real knack for teaching and speaking to all kinds of believers.

The Book that Pushed Me to Catholicism, Big Thanks
I did this study book with my Baptist church group. What a disappointment and what a revelation! I previously saw some videos by Ms. Minter, they seemed helpful. This book does have some good teaching, thus two stars, But... What I got from this book is that, in my humble born again Christian opinion, Ms. Minter has no clue what being born again is. A daughter of a pastor, grew up in a Christian family, teaches the Bible and still perceives the world through the lens of her neediness, comfort level, and depravations. I was willing to be accepting of her flaws in hopes of seeing how she overcame them, how all those selfish things she did and thought were before she was born again or some big epiphany like that, so we, too, may have an epiphany. It seems that was not the case. Though she admits her faults and alludes to learning something from her mistakes, it is not clear and she also seems to think that other Christian women are like her, confused. One third into the book I started to make notes next to her disappointing remarks. I just couldn't believe that someone so spiritually immature would be teaching the Bible.A particularly disappointing was to read this, "Given that Paul likens our bodies to tents, I want you to take inventory of how much time, energy, and money you put into your physical body. This includes thinking about body image; clothes and makeup shopping, browsing fashion websites and blogs; working out; getting facials, massages, manicures, and pedicures; haircuts and colors; having your teeth whitened; going to the spa; seeing a nutritionist; doctor visits; researching essential oils and anti-aging techniques. These are not bad activities, but in excess they can cause us to live solely for the temporal."Ms. Minter, may the Lord bless you and open your eyes and let you see. Majority of women in the world haven't done most of those activities, much less in excess. I, for instance, can't afford this kind of life style, nor is it important to me, nor was it important even before I was "born again," but apparently to you it's a norm and you think other women are like that, too. It seems that your Bible study caters to the rich and pampered American women, of which I am not. If your book was titled "Helping Rich Pampered Women to Find Christ" I would give it five stars. And your Kayak story? I see it as an analogy to your relationship with Christ. You aren't the kind who swims after a drifting away kayak despite knowing that without it you are in grave danger.Goodluck with keeping your facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, workouts, spa visits, anti-aging techniques, etc. to a bare minimum. Thank you for helping me become a Catholic. I am now really learning the meaning of being a Christian, form martyrs and saints, all of whom kept their massages, facials and spa visits to a healthy bare minimum of zero. Their nutrition techniques were fasting and praying. And their anti-aging technique was to die for Christ before aging to death. Sincerely and with Love, Yours Truly, a Byzantine Catholic Convert

but could not recommend it any higher
I had never done a study by Kelly Minter before, but could not recommend it any higher. This study is through the book of II Corinthians. I loved the way she walks through this book and asks though provoking questions to help you understand and apply what you learn. The recipes are an added bonus and will add to your time if you choose tondo this with friends or in a Bible Study group. I have already purchased copies for others as this has become one of my favorite studies!*I was given a copy for review purposes and have given my own thoughts regarding this study.

I really enjoyed her style of writing as well as the 5 ...
This study was the first I've done from Kelly Minter. I really enjoyed her style of writing as well as the 5 days of homework each week. She keeps you in scripture, walking you through 2 Corinthians. Very refreshing for me at this time in my life. Thankful I took a chance and order this book! I would definitely say yes to future studies by Kelly!

I like Kelly Minter books
We use this for a women's bible study. I only do one day a week because there is so much in each session which means we will be studying 2 Corinthians for months. She gives good illustrations, and includes thoughtful quotes from others. It makes preparing to lead the group so much easier.. One idea I might try is when we finish the book each on picks a recipe that's included in the book and come together to end the series. We have between 8 and 12 women who come, some have the book and some do not, some are visitors and regardless of whether they attend regularly or not they can always get something from the lesson. I don't use the video as we only have about 45 minutes to do the lesson.

Too much about the author.
It's okay. I feel like I am reading a blog. Too much personal information and opinions for me. It does have a lot of good information and thought provoking questions.

Good enough to finish
I didn't love this study. It felt forced - many of the questions were so direct at experiences in your own life, so if you have had a relatively simple or easy life it will be hard to answer them. It is also very wordy and if the questions aren't for personal reflection they are very shallow (read a verse & parrot it back)Overall, I am gaining a good overview of 2 corinthains and I can tell Kelly was passionate about this study. This study is good enough to finish but I'm not sure that I would recommend it again.
