There's no such thing as a "Universal brake mount"
I can't imagine why I thought this thing would work. Chalk it up to wishful thinking, I guess.Reality check: You cannot have a "universal" brake mount. There may be a bike in the world this thing will work on, but not any of the multiple bikes I own. In the specific application I bought it for, to add a disk brake to an older steel mountain bike, the axle fitting isn't wide enough to go over an axle, and even if it was, there's not enough bend in it to attach it to the frame.
