A true life rendition of Pablo Escobar
It's hard to believe that the main character who plays Pablo actually speaks Portuguese and had to learn Spanish, but he is really Pablo. Plata o Plumo. Silver or Lead.

To BORDER WARS and BREAKING BAD, To SICARIO and SAVAGES
I Watched All Of Season 1 and Several Episodes Of Season 2 On NETFLIX, This Mini-Docu-Drama Series Had Me Hooked From The very First Episode. I'm Naturally Appealed To This Genre Of Show, From The '80s MIAMI VICE and SCARFACE, To BORDER WARS and BREAKING BAD, To SICARIO and SAVAGES, and The List Goes On. I Remember When Pablo Escobar's Death Hit The Headline News Here In The States Back In 1993, I Was Just 22yrs of Age Back Then - Seems Like Yesterday Though...LOLAnyway, This Isn't So Much a Review as It's More Of Just Saying I Love This Show Enough That I Bought The "Hard Copy" Go Check It Out For Yourself. The Blu-Ray Picture and Sound Is Definitely Up To Par By My Standards, I Have a Yamaha 5.1ch AVR, SONY 4K UHD 55", Polk Audio Studio Monitor 75T Front Speakers and Polk Audio CSX250c Center Channel Speaker Watching/Listening This Series Is a Blast!!!

Damaged and Worn "New" Product
Upon opening the package, which was entirely acceptable for your average BD case delivery, the plastic barrier covering the case ("New condition") was prematurely torn in the upper left corner. Beneath, the case (pictures 1 and 3) was noticeably worn, to put in mildly, in the lower left corner (pictures 2 and 4), as if it had been chewed on by a dog, or a careless scalper or child attempted to pick their way beneath the plastic covering. Upon opening the case, applying minimal pressure, one of the two plastic pamphlet hooks literally crumbled to pieces(!) Removing the first (allegedly new) disk (picture 5), it too showed signs of previous use (smudging, light scratches). I was not optimistic at this point, but my media player could in fact read the disk. The second disk looked / performed as advertised. The third disk was noticeably smudged. I will update after some more testing.

Awesome crime drama and very rewatchable
This is one of those great shows to own as it's one of the best crime drama series next to mind hunter and true detective for me. Got this one on a little sale and it's always nice to rewatch from my collection as opposed to getting on netflix. 5/5

This will do, until a proper Escobar movie is created
Amazing. This is a great serialization of Pablo Escobar's life and times. They have taken some drama licenses, so please manage your expectations. Also, make note the Spanish being spoken is in "mumbles" and for those of us that speak Spanish you will most definitely feel and hear the difference. This isn't native South American lingo. This is to be expected since there are many Brazilian and Portuguese actors speaking a tongue not native to them. You'll hear the difference between their Spanish and the actor playing Gacha, Luis Guzman. However, this does not tarnish the series at all.It is one of the better shows I've seen this year.I understand Netflix greenlit seasons 3 and 4. However, I fail to see what the story would be about? Lets wait and see and hopefully the show won't be ruined.

Could Have Given This 5 Stars But…
The Upside: After two viewings of this show I found that it was well written, directed, shot and acted. If you like crime stories you might find this show very entertaining. So why only 3 stars? The Downside: The producers of Narcos decided that the Spanish specking characters should speak Spanish. The problem is that since about 95% of the show is set in South America about 90% of the dialog is in Spanish with English subtitles. At time the actors are rattling off the dialog faster than the automatic weapon in their hands. This has two downsides. 1. You’re constantly having to rewind the disc and/or hitting pause to read what’s being said. 2. Because you’re reading the dialog you end up missing the emotion and action depicted on the screen.I can only hope that NETFLEXs and the producers either change this approach or springs a little extra cash to offer up a second mostly English soundtrack for season 2.

A history lesson and show combined into one!!
It is very rare that a show is combined with a history lesson, but this show is. A true work of art, combining actors with true real live actual historical facts, like the real photos of Pablo Escobar, even down to his shooting death. This show is not for the young, it goes into how corrupt the political powers are in Columbia and the United States!! When you lay with snakes, do not be surprised when you get bitten, when you surround yourself with demons, do not be surprised when you start to burn.

No English subtitles and too much commentary
I've just started watching season 1 and have only got as far as the second episode. Apart from the absence of English subtitles - definitely needed as there's a fair bit of mumbling, I'm thoroughly sick of the commentators going on incessantly about the "show" and the quality of the actors, how scenes were shot and so on. I'll reserve judgement until I've watched the whole season 1, but I'm hoping that there will shortly be more Escobar story itself and less chatter. Satis verborum or, in the inimitable words of Al Capone, "enough talk, already"!!I've now looked briefly at episode 7 and it seems that it's now what I was hoping to find, so my criticism should be confined to the early part that I've watched. I should really have explored the discs further before jumping in. When I've watched the whole season, I may well upgrade my review from 3 stars to 4/5.

No Hard of Hearing subtitles.
Can't understand that for a modern BlyRay movie there are no subtitles in English for the Hard of Hearing. Really disappointed that our family cannot enjoy watching this very good series. Our grand father needs to read what is said. 99% of all DVD/BlyRay's have subtitles for the HOH , why not this one ? Complete waste of money and effort. Who has distributed this ? Very dissatisfied !

Subtitles missing
The series is great, but I have a problem. As I am not a native English speaker, I only buy DVDs with subtitles, at least English subtitles; it is a problem for me to follow spoken English only. When buying this series, the product description said there were English subtitles. When I received it, the DVD box said Subtitles: Part English. Which means I am unable to follow those parts that are without subtitles. So please do not write "English subtitles" if there are episodes on a DVD without them!

A great first series about the life of Pablo Escobar from Netflix - quickly addictive.
I really liked this series. It becomes hugely engrossing and highly addictive and you can relate to much of it if you are of that age where you remember it in the news. The dual language is good and the characters and acting are first class.

Good, not outstanding
Not as good as the second season, wich culminates in the death of Escobar. This first season feels like a kind of preparation for the following events.
