If You Love the Movie, You Will Love this Soundtrack!
We purchased the movie Moana on it's release day and loved it enough to want the soundtrack! A music lover myself, I really enjoyed the music from the movie and my four-year-old twins love listening to music as well so purchasing this soundtrack was an immediate decision after we finished watching the movie.Moana is the story of a young girl who yearns to know more about herself and her ancestry. Her father is the village chief and she feels drawn to the ocean that surrounds their beautiful, tropical Polynesian island of Motunui. The story tells of her adventures, discoveries, and experiences that teach her about herself and others. There are a total of 40 tracks on this soundtrack, which includes both the songs and the score. The entire soundtrack is about 75 minutes long and the songs range in length, the shortest song being 30 seconds long to the longest at 5 minutes and 46 seconds. 14 of the tracks are songs with lyrics while the remaining 26 tracks make up the score. The main voices in the music are Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) and Maui (voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). The score is composed by Mark Mancina. If you purchase the audio CD version, the lyrics are listed inside the booklet, along with the character who sings them. There are even the lyrics for the Polynesian languages sung on the soundtrack. There is also a list to credit all of the orchestra members who played the music for the score. Our whole family loves this soundtrack and we listen to it multiple times a day! I feel the soundtrack greatly reflects the tone of the movie. Because it's set in Polynesia, the music has a tropical feel to it and it's beautiful. Some of the songs are energetic and full of adventure whereas others reflect the darker tone when Moana and Maui are faced with their main task. Auli'i Cravalho has a beautiful voice and does an amazing job with all of the songs, my favorite being "How Far I'll Go," which can be heard multiple times on the soundtrack. We love the songs with lyrics and find they are easy to sing along with. The score is a lot of fun too and we enjoy figuring out which part of the movie the current song is from. Listening to this soundtrack makes us want to watch the movie every time we listen to it!If you've seen the movie and enjoy the music, I highly recommend purchasing this soundtrack. Our whole family loves it and I feel it's a good way to get my kids interested in music. There is a lot of music on this soundtrack and we've listened to it all many times already. I'm glad we bought this because it has been a wonderful purchase for us and well-worth the money we spent on it!

Another STELLAR Disney soundtrack to add to my collection!
I'm a classic Disney fanatic, and "Moana" is one of the best - better than "Frozen" (which, don't get me wrong, was very good - wonderful sisterly love theme)! As a 30-something who grew up in the age of the Disney Renaissance of the 1990s and had (still has) a collection of all the original Walt Disney classics, I can be hard to convince in this age of CGI...but "Moana" is perfection...and so is the soundtrack. Catchy tunes, great singers, gorgeous music & lyrics - love the traditional Polynesian vibe. I'm not a big "Hamilton" fan, but I can appreciate Miranda's considerable talent - and it shines in this soundtrack. "An Innocent Warrier" is profoundly beautiful and re-used again to great effect in the haunting "Know Who You Are" (that part of the movie gave me shivers). "We Know the Way" is a catchy song while still being respectful to the origin stories of the Polynesian people, and Miranda's vocals are stellar. Of course, "You're Welcome" will probably be the song all of the kids sing over and over - and it IS a fun song. I'm not sure why some people dislike "Shiny" - it's the best! Miranda wrote it as a tribute to David Bowie, and the Tamatoa/crab character is so funny as portrayed by Jemaine Clement. What a great secondary villain - and his song too boot! No, it doesn't "sound" like the rest of the soundtrack - but who says it's supposed to? It's fun...and so SHINY! Love Disney? Love Hawaii? Buy this soundtrack - you won't regret it.

Has words in Polynesian language!
Frozen, Frozen 2, and Moana are this 50 year olds favorite movies. Great singing you can sing along to, even in Polynesian language! I still haven’t figured out which Polynesian language Moana uses, but words are there to truly follow along!

LOVE IT
I have been listening to songs 3-11 over and over in my car. These are the songs that you think of from the movie. The CD is great, and you just can't shake those songs from your mind. I find myself be-bopping quietly at work to the song "Shiny" playing through my mind. After the main songs from the movie there are two terrible artist versions of the songs that I skip passed. Then you get into the actual sound track (the instrumental background music). This means you actually get a ton of music on this CD, and they were nice enough to break it up so that if you just want a singalong you don't have to skip through half of the CD to just get to those songs.

Love the songs
Love the content. We've only listened to the songs, oh, at least 50 times. My two girls are in love with this album. The downside was the CD case arrived cracked in 3 places but the disc itself was in good shape and thanks to Amazon's policy, they provided a refund. Contains 40 titles- though only 12 or so were songs, and the rest was soundtrack from the show itself.Perhaps the one thing that took away a star (aside from the cracked cover) was I was surprised the CD did not contain title data in the disc itself. When I load CDs into our car, the car's harddrive downloads the songs and the title automatically- but I was surprised that for this CD, it apparently did not contain title information- so our car displays titles only as song 1, 2, etc. Doesn't affect the music itself, obviously, but if you're wanting to organize your playlist, having the titles displayed automatically would have been nice.
