Ecoxgear ECOXBT Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, Orange (Renewed)

This would be a 5 star review, if the device hadn't died right after the one year warranty expired (I always find that suspicious). However, it did die. As others have said, it stopped charging.Since the warranty was up, I opened the device up to see what caused the issue. There was a white reside all over the inside; it looked like oxidized metal powder to me, which the rust/corrosion on the metal components would help explain. Obviously, the waterproofing had failed.Now, I took this speaker camping and on float trips, and it did last most of two summers, so it was pretty durable, but I still dislike that a waterproof speaker failed due to being used exactly for it's intended use.Pros:- Fairly loud- Battery lasts around 8 hours- Bluetooth range is decent (10m or 30ft, maybe?)- Durable, rubberized housing- I paired a ton of devices with it, and all worked- Floats when it falls out of your canoe- The buttons are a bit stiff, and seemingly durable- It's fairly well constructed, except, as others have mentioned, the charging port (that's where I think it leaked)Cons:- The waterproofing failed- Sometimes, there is a bit of audio lag when watching video on a paired tablet- The buttons are a bit stiff, and somewhat difficult to tell if you've pushed them or not- It's fairly well constructed, except, as others have mentioned, the charging port (that's where I think it leaked)Advice for manufacturer:- Good job, but in the next version, replace the push in rubber gasket seal for the charging port with a circular screw cap with a rubber gasket- You can see from the pics there's corrosion on the speakers, the housing, the chip heat spreader, and the aux port (and all of this was after cleaning)

This is a great little outdoor Bluetooth speaker. I haven't tried it in seriously wet conditions (like canoeing, for example), but I leave it out on the porch a lot, and have had no issues with it. Range is pretty good, too, and battery life has been excellent. I knocked off a star simply because the buttons are a bit of a pain...the volume and track skip are on the same buttons, so you have to hold the button down to turn up the volume, which means it's basically impossible to fine-tune the volume on the speaker itself. You're more likely to just start skipping tracks, because you didn't hold the thing down long enough.

Awesome! I just came back from a 10 day river trip on the Salmon in Idaho. I strapped the ECOXBT on my ducky and away I went. I swam 4 rapids and every time my boat was flipped upright everyone was amazed to hear the music still playing after being submerged in very turbulent water. I read on another review about the micro usb breaking so I was sure to be very careful when charging/plugging/unplugging and had no problems with it. I was also very careful to make sure there was no sand or dirt around the rubber seal that is on the usb/aux cover and never had any problems with leaks. Its a waterproof electronic device. If it didn't work for you, leaked or broke its probably because you didn't care for it properly. It worked amazingly for me and all it took was a little caution when charging and covering the ports.There were 2 other people on the trip with different waterproof Bluetooth speakers and they didn't look as cool, had no hooks or loops to strap them down, weren't as loud, and never got more then a splash on them as they were both on large self bailing rafts. I think by the end of the trip the ECOXBT was definitely proven to be the superior speaker.

This is an excellent quality Bluetooth speaker. The audio quality/volume levels are excellent and leave nothing to be desired, which I have found to be my primary problems with a number of other Bluetooth speakers I had purchased in the past. Having read some of the other reviews at least on the first page, I see that a lot of people seem to be primarily concerned the the "waterproof" aspect of this product. This product probably has as much waterproof-ness as anything claiming to be waterproof. I've not formally tested it and I don't really intend to. My previous model took a lot of splashes but didn't seem to suffer.My one PSA about this product is that special care should be taken when plugging in the Micro-USB charger... I had previously purchased this model and the only problem I ever had was with the inside receptacle coming loose within the metal housing, and eventually the plug itself becoming loose and falling back into the body of the speaker.

It was an awesome waterproof speaker until stops charging. The charging port is weak, I used the speaker like twice a month for the whole year in the park with the kids, at the beach in summer. I stored the speaker for 3 months and I was going to take it with us to the snow with the family over the weekend so I was going to charge it but once a plugged in I notice that it wasn't charging I unplug it and plug it back in and I notice that the charging port was broken right after the warranty expired. I really like this speaker but for the price I was expecting a better quality charging port. It was good while it lasted.
