Flip-flop fanatic's long-time favorite
Though the podiatrist confirmed my suspicion I shouldn't live in flip-flops, I couldn't give them up. As a compromise, I upgraded to better quality, more supportive versions.Keens had great protection (love the toe bumper) and arch support, but the insoles made my feet hot and sweaty. Then the shoes would slide around under my feet. Also, they were a little heavy. Tevas were lightweight, comfortable, and stayed in place very well (especially the Olawahus). But I could feel every pebble I stepped on. Chacos were on the heavy side, and just weren't as comfortable. Several other versions by Reef (e.g., Sandy) were okay, but didn't come close in terms of comfort and support. And I found the sizing was unpredictable, even varying amongst different colors of the same size/model.I almost didn't buy the Reef Slaps because they cost more than most of the others. But they fit SO well! The toe post wasn't halfway down my foot, leaving an inch of shoe sticking out in front me. The top part, what I think of as the "sling", hugged the sides of my feet and kept them stable in the shoe. The arches were firm and perfectly contoured, and the thick soles provided excellent cushioning. The insoles had only a slight texture, enough to help hold my feet in place but not enough to bother me like the bumpy ones do. They didn't make my feet sweat, and - unlike the very cushy ones - didn't smoosh down over time, compromising the cushioning.Since I wear these everywhere practically year round (except outside during winter), they get pretty dirty. Amazingly, I was able to throw them into my front-loader on a regular basis and wash them (on gentle with a low spin speed) with my other flip-flops. Eventually, the glue on the multi-piece sole disintegrated. I would've tried re-gluing them, but by then little bits of rubber were starting to break off.Replacing them wasn't easy at the time, but I was finally able to find the size/color I wanted (at full price), and bought three, no, four, additional pairs. I am considering buying another pair (always planning ahead) but worry that the quality may have slipped - like seems to happen with every other product product I fall in love with. If it hasn't, I may invest in SEVERAL more pairs. I just can't get enough of these shoes! The above is essentially the review I also left on the Reef website. But there's one more thing: the sizing. All my Slaps/Slap 2s are the original version, which is perfect in an 8. I have a wide foot with "natural" toes (as in, not scrunched up from wearing pointy shoes) and a low arch. I wear an 8.5 in most shoes, a 9 in boots, and an 8 in sandals (except for Teva Olawahus, which are a little too narrow in an 8). Based on recent reviews, I might have to jump to a 9 in the new Slaps to get the proper width, which would leave me with the dreaded "toe shelf".Why can't they leave a perfect product alone? Sure, a skimpier shoe made of cheaper materials might bring in more profits short-term, but in the long run, they are gambling that their new customers will outnumber the loyal ones they're going to lose. But my guess is that it rarely does. Rabble rabble rabble!

Hate flip flops, but I love these!
I am not a flip-flop person. I normally can't stand the way they feel between my toes and scratching the top of my foot, and every step shoots pain through my heels. Also can't stand that slapping noise when people walk in flip flops.Forget all that. These reefs are perfect. I had to buy some flip flops for a cruise I was going on. I did some research and finally settled on the Reef Slap 2. Since I couldn't select a half size, I chose the half-size up (I'm 8.5, but I bought a 9). They fit perfectly, and I consider my foot to be a little wide and high-stepped. There is no scratchiness on the top of my foot or between my toes. Instead, it is soft and warm. The shape of the shoe is curvy with nice arch support. Although the don't mention this when advertising, the shoe seems to have shock absorbency, so I was able to walk around all day with these without any ill effects. This is a great product. I highly recommend them, especially if you don't normally like flip-flops. Trust me. They are very comfy.

Very comfortable and the best cushion and arch support
I have worn Reef's for many years. I have a very high arch and narrow foot so it can be a challenge to find a snug enough fit. These sandals envelope my foot and embed it far enough that it gives great support. The arch is superior to any Reef sandal I've tried. They are not too light and therefore are more durable. While I only wear these indoors as a house slipper, I am sure they would be comfortable walking over most road surfaces, including gravel. I don't suggest that this sandal is only for narrow feet. Through repeated wearings they have grown much looser on my foot, but that is what I have grown to expect considering most sandals are made for and average size feet. I highly recommend these sandals.

Oh so comfy!
Came nicely packaged with "Reef" tags still on, brand new. The first day wearing, they were a little tight and the toe thing was uncomfortable but then they just molded to my feet perfectly. I have been wearing them every day now. Sooo comfortable. I use to get those Nike flip-flops all the time and loved them but these are a whole different story of comfort. One thing that kinda sucks but doesn't change the comfort or sturdiness of the sandal is that they are soo so squeaky!! There is no way you can sneak around in these. People know your coming from about 20 feet away. Sounds like, "quack quack quack".. I don't care though. Just a heads up! Will definitely be buying from this company again. Thank you.

Don't hesitate.
There are very few products that I purchase and rate 5 stars and considering that these are flip-flops for around $30 most might think I'm crazy to pay that but these are worth it. I walk for miles on my treadmill in running shoes and prefer nike air max's and I stand all day at work as a teacher so I am picky about my footwear but I look forward to wearing my reef slap 2's on flip flop Fridays at school. They are completely comfortable all day long and have a more cushioned support than my previous reef fanning flip flops which I also like but not near as much as the slap 2's. Give them a try. I purchased the black because I already have a pair of the brown leather from last year.

The most comfortable thong sandal I've ever worn
One review I'd read said that these shoes run a little large, and should be ordered a size smaller than you'd normally buy. As I recall, there wasn't a size to fit my tiny feet. I ordered the smallest size available, and they could be a little smaller for me. I ordered the same size I'd bought the year before in a sportswear store, but they did run larger. The arch didn't fit exactly where I'd prefer, but my feet found a relatively sweet spot over time. I love the Reef shoes. They have great arch support, and feel like I'm walking on squishy rubber balls. After foot surgery I've got tender soles, so these solve that problem. I live in these during warm weather. I wish there were an equivalent shoe for cold weather.
