Looks like a bargain, isn't.
Unfortunately I can't recommend this device after using it for several weeks.. Ever since I got it there has been spotty performance, most especially with bluetooth devices and legacy (usb 2.0) devices. Before you start in, I have troubleshot everything methodically. My bluetooth devices were all charged, within 2 feet of this hub, drivers all verified correctly, hub powered with AC, tried with 4 different bluetooth driven devices (headphones, mouse, keyboard, adafruit.) etc etc etc. The signal always acts like you're pulling a rope and someone's cutting it. This thing just plain hates working with bluetooth devices.Similarly, many things that are not specifically usb 3.0 fails with this thing. The devices work when plugged directly into the computer but fail when in use with this. Sometimes they are not detected at all, sometimes it blinks on but the drivers never install correctly. I've tried my old usb sticks, phone (to get to SD card), arduino/teensy boards, usb microphones... I also followed their online FAQ to the letter to trouble shoot this including flashing a new bios, driver resets, etc. This thing just plane hates working with usb 2.0.This thing just plain hates working.

Partial failure for USB 2 devices
I bought this a couple of months ago, and it seemed to work fine. I was gone for several weeks, and on return my wife informed me that my mouse and keyboard no longer worked.Brief diagnosis shows that USB 3 devices still work on all 7 ports of this hub, but now USB 2 devices only work on ports 5 - 7. For Ports 1 - 4, the little "port in use" light doesn't come on, whereas it still does for ports 5 - 7. I tried this with thumb drives (both USB 2 and USB 3) to confirm what my mouse and keyboard were telling me.Perhaps a 1 star review is a little harsh for something that still partially works. But since it originally ALL worked, I'm not confident that it will continue to work. I'm not inclined to replace my USB 2 devices just so they'll work with a flakey hub. And I don't care to have to remember in future what parts of it are broken and in what way. This sort of thing should just work, all of it should work, consistently and reliably, and for some decent amount of time (well beyond a couple of months tops). At this point I don't think I'll replace it --- a hassle either way, but I'll live with it unless it further breaks down. But despite the high customer rating for this device, I'm unimpressed with the manufacturer (HooToo.com).

For me, the HT-UH010 worked better - if you have USB 3.0 drives and a Macbook, try the HT-UH010 from them instead
My review is NOT for the HooToo® HT-UH006 USB 3.0 Hub - it's for the HT-UH010 that the seller sent me as a replacement when the HooToo® HT-UH006 didn't work with my USB 3.0 drives connecting through it to my "mid-2010 Macbook Pro" (Apple's appellation). It seems that some USB 3.0 drives are very fussy about their connection, the HooToo importer explains. They note that in the description on Amazon, but I didn't appreciate it. My WD and Samsung and Toshiba Canvio drives would not connect through the HT-UH006The difference between the HT-UH010 and the HT-UH006 is noticed as soon as you pick up the box - the HT-UH010 is much heavier, because the power supply is a moose-y 5 amps versus the puny 1.5 amp supply shipped with the HT-UH006. The HT-UH010.I hooked the 3 drives that didn't work with the HT-UH006 to the HT-UH010 and the hub worked perfectly! Clearly faster than the D-Link DUB-H7 it replaced. As others have noted, this is a very responsive seller. If you have issues, their contact info is on the boxes and material - contact them. Nice people!

Even with powered AC plugged in, most of the devices I plugged in don't work
EDIT: I'm changing my review to 5-stars. The seller just sent me a replacement hub (same model) and now it seems to be working much better. I may have just received a defect unit originally.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------I got the HT-UH006 and hooked it up to a Windows 7 system. It automatically recognized the device and installed the drivers so installation couldn't be simpler. The problem is even with the AC adapter plugged in it doesn't seem very reliable. So far I hooked up a Western Digital Passport drive, a Canon multifunction printer, Logitech unified receiver, a Selphy photo printer, and Logitech webcam. Only the photo printer works and only when using the side port for some reason. I'm not sure if this is normal, but given this is a powered adapter, I guess I expected more. I give this 3 stars since apparently there's little if any improvement over a non-powered USB hub for any practical use. It is at least functional and cheap enough that it's not worth returning though.
