Thrilled...live Clementi!
I was thrilled to find this as a replacement for the one I had since childhood. Since mine had hanwritten comments from my teacher, I am sentimental about it and it was starting to tatter. Love Shirmer library music. You get what you want without it having been "rearranged" multiple times. Great collection of Sonatinas that are not only gorgeous but keep the hanfs well-tuned.

Excellent for advanced beginners
These Sonatinas are excellent for the advanced beginner. I say this because a lot of beginner literature keeps the hands farly close to “home”, or at most, one hand does a lot of moving on the keyboard while the other doesn’t go very far. The Clementi Sonatinas give both hands a lot of movement up and down the keyboard, and at first are a massive challenge, at least for this elderly piano student who has been playing for about four years. Another great feature: these are not boring, rote pieces. They have plenty of musical value on their own.

Clementi Opus 36 Sonatinas
The Schirmer book of the 6 Clementi Sonatinas is the same as the Schirmer edition that I've used for many years. This particular edition includes only the 6 sonatinas. Fingering and dynamics are included. Teaching points must be supplied by the teacher. Other editions of this set of 6 sonatinas have explanations and teaching points and colorful covers. This particular edition of the 6 sonatinas is bare bones, but it is excellent nevertheless.

A must for any serious pianist
Clementi is a must for any serious pianist. Not only are the Sonatinas beautiful but also necessary for growth. The scales are challenging for both left and right hand development. Staccato notes, phrasing and all theory of music are included in this selection. To play scales back and forth and staccato with the other hand is so challenging but also needed to build up a pianists skills. As we build our skills through variations and challenges through Clementi we become better pianists, about to play music that is more "mundane" A must for any serious student.

Replaced an item from my wife’s childhood, then we found the original
Recently we inherited the piano my wife learned to play on as a child. This book was one of the first things her piano teacher taught her. After buying a new copy for Amazon, we found the old tattered one she used as a child. Such is life.
