Good light.
Less expensive and similar to the Honeywell model offered here. Very lightweight, and the area light is better than the Honeywell. As to longevity and durability, the jury is still out. It does give a decent spotlight, though I have seen better in heavier lanterns. I would buy this again....let's see how long it lasts.

Rather awkward design
I have a few other lanterns / area lights that I use when I'm camping. I thought this would be a nice addition. However, there are several things about this light I don't quite like :- Awkward handle design. The natural way to grip it is to have the spotlight facing yourself. It's also stiff and hard to turn.- AC adapter for charging (12V, 300mA output) is 120V only (instead of 100-240V like most things these days)- No indicator to show state of charge of battery- No indicator to show when it is done charging- Does not appear to be water resistant. I could unscrew it apart, and there are no O-rings- No indication of what is the battery capacityI did disassemble part of it, and the battery looks like a 18650 (approximately 65mm x 18.5mm) with no markings on it. Assuming 3000 mAh, it is a nice capacity but not that much. Replacing it will require a bit of soldering.Light is bright, about average for lanterns of this size. Spotlight has a very small hot spot, and a comparatively wide spread - slightly more than 90 degrees, it looks like. Lantern is indeed light, but that also makes it feel a little flimsy. The case has a rubbery feel to it which makes for a good grip. While having a rechargeable light will save money compared to disposable batteries (if used a lot), I like to have user replaceable batteries. With my smaller lights, I use rechargeable AA (Eneloops), and carry spares with me. If I run out of charge, changing batteries is an easy and quick operation. That's not an option with this light. The main advantage it has over other lights is that using lithium ion battery allows for significant lighter weight, and it has a spotlight that my other lights don't.It does work fine, and the price is quite reasonable. But because of the faults I listed above, it is definitely not the first light I'll pick when going on my next camping trip. My favorite lantern is still the Rayovac Sportsman LED SE3DLN that I purchased almost 4 years ago.

Awesome Working on Car and in an emergency
This little guy really got a workout after Christmas! *lol* I purchased it b/c my daughter and her fiance go camping quite a bit however last week it came in handy when her car broke down just as the sun was setting. It is super bright (!) and obviously can be easily moved around underneath a vehicle when working. No extension cord needed. Then just yesterday she lost her electricity during a cold snap (we don't do cold weather well down in TX) and she used it as a lantern on their table until the power went back on. Again, nice and bright; illuminated the room very well. The handle is easy to grip, opens easily for a handheld "spotlight" or flashlight and folds down nicely when using it as a lantern. I'm even happier than I thought I would be with this flashlight/lantern. So well worth the money; not to mention a great gift!

Bright Light
Nice bright light. Unhandy switch and awkward to hold. Switches between lantern and flashlight. Lantern comes on first and you have to switch it every time you turn it on if you want to use as flashlight. Not a big deal , but an inconvenience. On - off button is hard to push. Probably would not buy another one like it.

Great light at a great price
This is a great light and incredibly bright. I use it when walking my dog at night and it makes our path look like daylight. It is light weight with a comfortable handle. It has a long run time between charges. Well worth the price.

Okay Lantern, Poor Flashlight
I didn't care that much for this "flantern" and I'll tell you why. First, it came with zero instructions, so it took me a few minutes to figure out how it works. "How dumb are you?" you're probably thinking. Well, the thing is, this lantern has no less than five "bumps" that look like they could be click-on switches. I tried each of them in turn, but only one actually turned the light on. Of the others, one was the hidden charging port, two were nothing but decoration, and one is supposed to allow you to adjust the handle into flashlight-mode.That's my second complaint. You're supposed to be able to push this button and angle the handle down, turning the lantern into a flashlight. Mine doesn't work very well. If I push VERY hard and pull on the handle with all my strength, I can get it to move down, but it's extremely difficult. Also, I think the handle was put on backwards, because the finger grips go the wrong way. If I hold it so it's comfortable, the flashlight shines right in my face!My third complaint is that my lantern arrived with a large crack in the clear plastic. It was packaged with lots of air-packs, so I don't know how the damage occurred, unless at the factory. It doesn't render the lantern unusable, but it is kind of annoying that a brand-new product would be broken upon arrival. So, what do I like about this lantern? It's nice that you can keep it plugged in and ready to go in an emergency. The only problem is, suppose your power stays out for a long time and the battery dies? You have no way of recharging it. It isn't like you can just pop a few new batteries in. I really like the plastic loop on top that lets you hang the lantern, so you can use it while camping. That's a plus in my book. In theory, the switch between lantern and flashlight is good, but like I said, the flashlight handle doesn't convert easily on mine, and the grip is backwards, so it fails in that regard. Another good point is that it's really bright. Two stars because it's an okay lantern, if hard to use. But if you really want the convertibility between lantern and flashlight, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.Edited to add (6/10/14): I took this lantern on a camping trip and used it to help me find the bathroom in the middle of the night. On my way back, I got hopelessly lost. Not an experience I would care to repeat, let me tell you! I was grateful to have the flashlight/lantern, but it wasn't enough to keep me on the correct path. I ended up having to completely retrace my steps back to the bathroom, and still managed to get lost AGAIN. The light just wasn't bright enough or wide enough of a beam for me to see the path I was supposed to take. So again, this lantern/flashlight fails. I wanted to like it, I truly did. But it did NOT live up to my expectations.

Works great, battery is unbelievable
Works great, battery is unbelievable. I charged it once, left it in my car's trunk and used it 6 months later. Still bright and strong. Good buy!
