Great ink
I know the name brand costs more than the off brands but they work every time and I only have to replace my inks every 5 months or so. I'm a Early Childhood teacher and I print a lot so I think this is a good deal for the best ink for my printer. I tried an off brand and it screwed up my printer. I hope not permanently. I'm waiting for my next Canon order to arrive so I can replace the off brand ink with Canon ink and see if my printer prints again. It better or I'll be very upset that I tried to save some money and find it destroyed my printer!

Best way to buy ink.
I used to always purchase my ink from Costco. I would take an empty ink cartridge to the store, find the matching one and purchase it. I kept the cartridge in a ziploc bag hoping that it would not leak ink. Then there was the fateful day that I went to Costco and they didn't have the correct type of ink. I have a printer that won't print and no ink. I returned to Costco some time later without the ink cartridge, because let's get real are you really going to save an empty ink cartridge that has the potential for leaking? I wrote down the model number on a piece of paper, but when I got to the store I couldn't find the paper. I bought what I thought looked like the correct cartridge. Horrors, when I got home it was more than obvious it was not the correct size. I am embarrassed to say that I was so desperate for ink I actually put it in my computer hoping it would work. Of course it didn't. I had to return it to Costco. I love their return policies. Let's get something straight a trip to Costco from my house is a half hour trip one way. Three trips is three hours and I still don't have ink! I really didn't want to give the overpriced office supply stores in the area my business. I decided to try purchasing ink online. I had my trepidations, what with some of the reviews saying thay did not recieve Canon ink. I gave it a try. This is the way I purchase my ink now. It is easy to get the correct size, just look up on your orders what you purchased. I have always received Canon brand ink. The only down side is that you have to plan for when you are going to run out of ink and have it available, or do without for a few days. I absolutely love the convenience and accuracy of purchasing ink this way. I highly recommend it.

Easy to order online and the price is the same!
Gotta have my ink, especially now. I have had the same Canon printer for about 7 or 8 years and it still does a great job of printing---documents especially!

Large Black Ink
This is plain black ink---the large tank, which I believe it uses for printing text. Our printer has a second black ink, which is narrow, like the colored inks. Its code number is #226, so double-check before you order, just to be sure you're replacing the correct ink tank. This ink is pretty good. I mean, I can't really use any other type of ink in our printer, so it's hard to compare it with other brands. But it does a fair enough job. And by that I mean the text it prints is black, like it should be. It's easy to install, although if you've never done it before, it might take you a minute to figure it out. You have to peel off a bit of shrink-wrapping, then twist this orange thing off the top of the ink, while being careful not to accidentally block this tiny hole with your fingers. After that, you just open your printer and pull out the old, used ink, and pop the new one in. It's pretty straightforward.I have no complaints, except for the fact that our printer guzzles this stuff like mad. But I think that's the printer's fault, not the ink's. I tend to print in spurts, I'll have several things to print one day, then I'll go a week or two without printing anything. Be warned---if you go more than a week without printing, the ink can dry up and clog, which ruins the ink tank. This has happened to us more than once. So try to print something every week, even if you don't really need to, just to keep the ink flowing.Four stars, good product. Recommended to anyone with a printer that takes this type of ink, especially if you print a lot of word documents.

Performs better than expected...
After using HP products for years (along with the seemly endless and costly replacement of ink cartridges), I switched up to Canon products a little over a year ago. The most surprising thing about that switch is how long the ink cartridges last! I generally need to replace them twice a year, wereas with the HP, it was almost four times a year! Needless to say, in my case, I save $$$$ with absolutely no loss in print quality or efficiency! Also, since I don't replace the cartridges as often, I can afford to buy factory, and not aftermarket (which is probably why the quality and durability remain high).
