Nice Scale
This scale was fun for the students but would fall apart easily. Not as sturdy as I would have liked.

My 5th graders loved this balance when we were learning the measurements unit. it's light to carry and actually works. The concept was grasped and standard mastered.

I purchased it for the high fulcrum to use in modeling symbols.
I purchased this product for classroom use, or modeling. . . I like it because the fulcrum is high . To it I plan to place it in front of a board and attach paper to it with strings that will create an equal sign or the more than and less than symbols. I did this when teaching but had a Delta like balance the school furnished. The Delta fulcrums are now too short to do this with and they have shrunk their balance scales. This scale has little adjusters to make the sides even and the math symbols at the bottom of the scale. It will be challenged for fine comparisons and will need larger objects placed in it....such as those in the classroom. It has several pieces to attach together. I do not know yet if it will work with the paper and strings attached to it to create the symbols. At end of year testing ALL students marked the symbols correctly on the test. Forget the alligator that swims around a pool from every direction with its mouth open... the bottom line of the symbols and in the direction of reading is the way to read and say the symbols.
