I'm very pleased with this sturdy and economical part. The vanity in my bathroom came with a 1 1/4" steel pipe under the sink. The contractor who installed it used tape (?!) to rig the transition to the 1 1/2" drainpipe- which surprisingly held up for a few years before it started to leak. This part worked to connect the two sections securely, saving me a plumber bill. I did use a plastic slip joint which did not come with the part.

This worked perfectly to connect my 1 1/4 inch PVC drain line to the main 1 1/2 inch line under the sink. I had also planned to use PVC connections that requires cure time for the glued connections (24 hours). Then I found this. It was a much better solution. It took less time, no cure time .... I do plan to put in a new sink and countertops soon. Now that this can be easily removed, it makes it an even better choice compared to glued PVC connections.
