This is the Jerry can that actually pours fast, will last, and doesn't leak (so far)
We needed a quality gas can that would accompany our UTV on our many forays deep into the backcountry. After cheaping out on a no-name Euro-style, pseudo-Jerry gas can (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DY7BXPZY), I was so disappointed in the construction quality and shortcuts taken that I didn't even try to do a leak test on it. Like most of the cheaper pseudo-Jerry cans, it had a protruding marriage seam where the two halves were welded together - including on the bottom of the can so it wouldn't sit flat on a horizontal surface. Back it went the next day and I ordered this Euro-type mostly NATO spec Wavian can made in Latvia. It cost almost twice as much as the one I sent back, but. It has the recessed marriage seam and definitely has thicker metal, better workmanship, and thicker paint. As they say, you get what you pay for. We filled it up and took it on a full-day shakedown test in Idaho's backcountry mounted on our UTV. The 40-mile round trip on the trailer was 50% stop-and-go traffic and 50% at interstate speeds with lots of winding curves. Next came the 65-mile round trip from the trailhead over rough, rocky, runoff carved backcountry roads. These roads were often off-camber, jilting side-to-side, plenty of bouncing up and down, including crawling over the occasional fallen tree limbs crossing our path, etc. it was like a poor man's version of a shake table experiment. As best as I could tell, the can didn't leak a drop. Note that we did take advantage of the safety pin that holds the lid tightly shut. It works and I highly recommend you use it. What I didn't like: 1. The plastic storage clip for the pour nozzle comes uninstalled and doesn't hold the nozzle well at all. Someone might make some good coin by selling one that will. Make it out of non-ferrous sheet metal please. 👍🏻 2. The accompanying pour spout fell a little short (pun intended). It fit the can fine and didn't leak but I found it too short for some applications. On the positive side, it is self venting and you don't have to Dremel off part of the vent because this Euro can is true to NATO spec and doesn't have the dubious plastic spark arrester in the way. Some reviewers have commented about the detached small diameter plastic pour adapter being ridiculously hard or impossible to insert into the end of the larger plastic pour nozzle. I agree. However, it took 3 minutes on the drill press putting chamfers on the mating ends of the nozzle and adapter to made it tolerable. Yes, they still fit snugly but it was no longer ridiculously difficult to attach and detach the adaptor. See attached pics. I can imagine using the adapter for better control filling smaller tanks like a 4-cycle power washer, a portable Honda generator, a lawn mower, a snow blower, etc. For more gas thirsty applications, we ordered a longer Euro-type spout at additional cost. In my opinion, it should be offered as an option on this Jerry can for those who value the versatility and accessibility the longer length provides (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081HZGDDD). It too comes with that same useless plastic storage clip. 🙄 Edit 6/5/2025: I was able to get the plastic storage grip to hold slightly better - emphasis on "slightly". I used electrical tape to "fatten up the part of the nozzles that sits in the clip. It's a kludge that won't last long. Perhaps if you can get a large enough piece of heat shrink tubing... See three new pics attached.

These are Excellent Fuel Cans
Overall, these are excellent cans, as good as my salvage NATO cans. These are European (Latvian) made, high quality, 0.9mm steel Jerry cans, manufactured nearly identical to NATO military-issue cans. The only real difference is in the precise shape of the spout opening (NATO can spouts won't fit these), and NATO cans having a changeable content plaque on them since they're usually only in green. These are designed to entirely seal, just like a NATO can, when properly closed. These are NOT cheapo, screw-on plastic child safety-capped containers. These will NOT leak, even when placed on their sides. Noting a common complaint, this means the cans may become slightly pressurized when going up in altitude or when atmospheric pressure drops. This is normal. But it means that the cans may spit out some fuel when opened if they're placed such that fuel is against the cap, or if fuel is sloshing around in the can. Just set them flat or tipped back when opening and give the fuel a chance to stop sloshing inside the can. It can also help to open the can slowly at first to let inside and outside pressures equalize. Some civilian Jerry can colors are intended to correspond to contents, so these will come with labels that match the colors. Red is for gasoline. Yellow is for Diesel. Blue is for kerosene. NEVER put water into any fuel can as it will react with the liner. I believe that Wavian has moved to blue plastic for their water cans. The newer safety spouts are mandated by US law. They actually work fairly well if you can lift the whole can with one hand and operate the spout with the other hand (easier with a 10-liter). But they're a PITA on a 20-liter. The base part of the spout is still steel. But the upper safety mechanism part is plastic with a metal spring inside.

NATO Gas can in spot on. Nozzle that comes with it works but opted for the optional nozzle!
When I bought my last set of gas cans, I bought plastic red cans 20 years ago. they still work but the nozzles pour the fuel out so slow because there is no vent, and the other plastic pieces to it have long since been lost so I can not seal off the can from the air...I actually use the small "for one gallon" 2 cycle oil bottles that tightly cover the nozzle to at least stop evaporation. Well I bought a generator to use with my travel trailer and realized that these old gas cans are not acceptable. I looked at the various "safety cans" and was surprised of the cost and the bad reviews that so many of them got...hard to fill, hard to pour gas back out, and hard to use because of EPA and other safety standards. I know back in the day I had several old school "Jerry Cans" that worked well but over the many years they got lost or rusted, so I went looking. I fell upon this can, read the reviews and figured they were pretty good cans. I bought one of the green cans with the optional nozzle...not a cheap proposition, but I was going on the premise that you get what you pay for. They arrived quickly, packed well and no damage. Two days later the nozzle arrived, again in good shape. I played with the filled cap and it seemed very tight and had the safety pin to keep it from accidentally coming open. The standard nozzle that came with it seemed like it may cause problems depending on what you are fueling since it requires the end of the nozzle to be pushed in to release the fuel....kind of one hand on the can and one hand to push the release in unless you were lucky to have a filler neck on the vehicle that you could press against. Well I took it to the gas station, filled it up with no issue, closed and secured the cap...checked for leaks (none) and even put it on its side and it did not leak from the cap...perfect. Took it home...put in the standard nozzle and went to fill the lawn tractor...well that sucked since that safety nozzle nonsense made for an awkward fill. When I got the new optional nozzle...tried it again and it worked great! I also bought extra gaskets....just in case one falls off and I missed it.... I did buy a Nato can holder bracket to put in the back of the truck when I carry it and the generator....perfect! I recommend the can...but buy the option nozzle and gaskets...you will be much happier!

High Quality, Made in Latvia Since WW2.
Wavian has been making Jerry Cans in Latvia since WW2. The can is high quality, heavy gauge metal, with a nice fit and finish and a quality paint job. Once you figure out how to remove and install the spout, it's easy enough to use. When not in use, the spout stores securely atop the can. Wavian offers several color options; I went with green to match my 1971 Ford F-250. I installed it in the bed, which has a cap on it. If you're going to use a mounting bracket, make SURE you spend the extra money and get the actual Wavian brand bracket. I tried another brand that claimed to fit but came nowhere close. I ordered the correct one from the Wavian USA website. I did add 2 additional holes to the mounting bracket to meet my needs. Note, hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) is not included, probably because there is no one-size fits all option. My only complaint is that there was both a product label and a bar code label attached to the can in highly visible places. Not the easy to remove type labels either, but the type meant to hold come hell or high water. It took a fair amount of time and Goo Gone to remove the labels. An unexpected annoyance. Otherwise, very pleased!

Yellow typically universal for Diesel fuel
Bought this yellow Jerry can, realized yellow is typically universal color for storing jet fuel JP-4 or JP-8 or diesel fuel but I took off the diesel sticker decal and replaced with a gasoline flammable #3 decal. I like yellow, I usually purchase red but most of my tools and other yard tools are that color. Yellow stands out more but I use this for diesel with gas only sticker decals on it for my own personal lawn mowing storage needs. Structure is sturdy. NATO military grade aluminum. Spout is great addition. Yellow paint within aircraft industry is typically applied to alloys or in fuel tank spaces inside fuel cells within wing tanks or inside external fuel tanks. I hope the metal was Alodined before painted yellow to prevent static electric contact or discharge. Wavian makes a great Jerry can. I have two, one green and now this one. can’t complain, Jerry cans help to store fuels with good seal in the spout. Will never implode unlike a plastic gas can for lawn mowers or tractor fuel storage. Spout comes with mesh lining for particle separation as you pour out your fuel into a mower or tractors gas tank. Only con to a Jerry can is that there’s not a vent to disperse vaporation so moment you open the spout, the vapors can be strong, but if maintained well and used properly, minimal vapors escape. Happy fuel storage. Enjoy.

Really like the can except spout
The can is heavier than I expected, extremely sturdy. The spout was definitely not as useful as I wanted. After reading reviews bought a replacement spout that is very flexible, and after shortening the air-release tube on it everything works as I needed. The cap fastener is awesome, and can lay the can on its side and doesn't leak, especially with the pin that can secure the closed lid. Now I don't have to worry about the can falling over and leaking all over - feel safe in laying it down in the trunk - no leaks.

Poor Quality Control. This is going to cost me thousands of dollars!!!
Here's a polished version of your Amazon seller feedback. I've retained your original points but made the tone clearer and more professional, while keeping the urgency and frustration intact: --- This is going to cost me thousands of dollars!!! I purchased two green 5-gallon diesel Jerry cans and two red gasoline cans. I've only used the green cans for diesel fuel, which doesn’t require rotation as often as gasoline. I filled them for the first time last fall and refilled them again this spring. Wanting to rotate the fuel once more, I opened the first green can to show my son how to pour it into the truck without scratching it. The fuel looked normal and smelled fine. Since both cans were bought and filled at the same time, I had no reason to believe the second one would be any different. I then asked my son to get the spout for the second green Jerry can and repeat the process. He emptied it into my 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 High Country. After he was done, he left the can open because he couldn’t figure out how to close it properly. When I came over a few minutes later, I noticed the inside of the can was completely orange-red with rust and oxidation. I explained the issue to ChatGPT, which suggested the most likely cause was that the interior of the second can was never treated or coated properly before shipping. Now I’m facing a potential bill of over a thousand dollars just to have the fuel drained, the fuel injectors inspected, the fuel lines flushed, a new filter installed, and all the labor (at around $250/hour). And that’s assuming no damage was done to the injectors themselves—which, if replacement is needed, could cost over $10,000 for this vehicle. All of this happened because I trusted that these cans were manufactured with proper quality controls in place. Absolutely unacceptable. Ugh. I don't expect the seller to pay for these damages, but 2 new Jerry can (properly inspected before being shipped to me at no cost would go a long way to helping to make this right at their level).
