I am a beginner sewer. This book is totally awesome and really lives up to it's name. I would highly recommend this book. I also ordered a few other books along with this one and this one is by far the best one so far. It is just very concise and fun to look through. Every step has pictures that show you exactly what you should be doing. Her fabrics are really inspiring and there is a colored picture of what the finished project looks like. She also labels things according to the skill level. Her instructions are really clear, easy to follow, and very customizable. There is a section in the beginning that explains the rest of the book. Her projects include: eyeglasses case, tissue pouch, grocery bag tube, map sack, zippered wristlet, totes, drawstring sacks, messenger bags, and organizers (The wall organizer is really cool).

I really liked this one. I especially like that there are no patterns involved. The instructions were easy to follow and had great visuals. It's true, after one project I can customize any bag to my liking. In fact I customized one of the bags with custom pockets for my personal cell phone, my BlackBerry for work and my favorite notebook and pen. It was so easy and satisfying to make something so cutomized. I would have never found it in a store. I recently made a similar bag for a friend and customized the bag to fit her needs as well.

This book is beautiful!! It has a lot of ideas for bags - Basic bags- nothing fancy. But a lot of the ideas can be used for gifts. You may want to go to the library first before you buy as it only has basic bags but where I find it worth the money is that directions are clear and some ideas are creative but nothing too fancy. It kind give an appreciation for beautiful homemade stuff.

I am new to sewing so this is a really fun way to practice using the sewing machines. The patterns are cute, but doesn't really vary from the basic rectangle bag idea. The drawstring instructions are not that clear and it took me a few tries before I got it, but I like the patterns.

What an incredible book! The perfect starter or refresher book. I had not sewn since I was in high school and when that was over I promptly forgot everything I had learned. Here I am now at 63 and wanting to get back into it again. I am beginning to see that after reading this book I became throughly inspired again and will continue to do so. I highly recommend this book to everyone that is new to sewing or to those of us that need a kick start to get back into it. Easy to understand and a great reference book. Thank you Lexie!!

I am a beginning sewer and was really looking for a book that had instructions on grocery bags. This book does not. However, the book does motivate and encourage creativity and that is why I gave 3 stars. I am going to try to go by her guidelines and see if I can make it on my own. I just tend to need step by step instructions. I'm kind of the type who needs a recipe when cooking and don't really like to create or wing it on my own.

Fantastic book, gives you details on how to sew pretty much any bag made up of square and rectangular pieces. Allows you to create your own modified designs. It teaches you all the techniques you need to know and gives you a great ground work to build on.If you're just starting to sew your own bags I would totally recommend it!

This book is great for beginnng sewers who want fun projects and clearly written instructions. Most of the projects are practical and useable, but the imaginative fabric and trim choices offer inspiration for more experienced sewers who are looking for quick projects or gifts.I also give points for craft books with a lay-flat spiral binding...pages stay open while you're working!This book would make a great gift for a young person learning to sew.

Informative and well presented little book. Gives lots of options to adapt projects to suit. Also like that it's ring bound as very user friendly

It turned oput to be much more basic than I expected from the description. If you were about to make your first bag, you might enjoy it, but did nothing for me.

Excelente libro de iniciación o para realizar proyectos sencillos de bolsos. Las explicaciones son básicas pero están bien explicadas y son fáciles de comprender aunque están en inglés gracias a los dibujos.

What a lovely little book! I ummed and ahhed about buying it, because I wasn't sure I needed another sewing book, but I'm so glad I did. It is perfect for my needs, although I'm a confident seamstress, I like the fact it goes back to basics and gives you the building blocks to do more or less as you wish. I also like the fact it is wirebound so it can be opened out properly given that it is a work book. I'm always wanting to make bits and bobs and this will save me starting out from scratch and any time saved is a bonus for me.
