used as a countertop for a 36" base cabinet. Works perfectly. Minor dings along one edge were palced along rear side so not really an issue that bothers me much.

I bought two of these to use as an island counter top.First, the packaging is great. It comes very well protected in multiple layers and I'd say the chances of it showing up damaged are pretty slim.Second, this has a food-grade coating on it. This coating should make it extremely safe for food and very durable. Per the instructions, you can sand it off and oil if you wish for a more classic wood look - the coating gives the board a plastic sheen.Placing two of them side by side, they're not absolutely perfectly sized together. I did this, but if fit and finish are super important (they are under 1/8" different and I can hide the gap in my application) I would look into buying a single piece. After all is said and done, the big box home improvement stores have 8ft pieces for about the same price per sq/ft.Also keep in mind that this is edge grain not end grain. The wood (to my untrained eye) appears to be very high quality and very hard maple, which is what you want in a counter. Edge grain wood will dull your knives faster than edge grain, so if you're intending to cut directly on this (which I do) just be aware that you should probably invest in a sharpening stone as well. (personal note - anyone who takes cooking seriously should get a stone anyways. Sharpening your own knives is rather cathartic in my experience, and it WILL make a huge difference in your ease and safety during prep)

The maple block top is exactly what I needed. I experienced a little shipper-related trouble, but I spoke with Grizzly Industrial and they took care of everything. Great company and easy to work with!

This was my 2nd purchase of the Grizzly H9687 - this 2nd order has some more significant flaws on the bottom side, but overall I would say it is still a very good value, and meets my needs. The matching of the maple strips color is excellent; the patchwork nature of the completed slab is minimized, making it easier to couple with slabs from other sources (in my case, a Whirl_ _ _ _ subsidiary named Glad_ _ _ _ _). The edges are square, not "eased", chamfered or rounded over, so a little sharper, and potentially more susceptible to cosmetic damage. However, Grizzly does an OUTSTANDING job of packaging, providing great protection for corners and edges in transport, and layers both top & bottom surfaces with fairly hard sheets of sacrificial pegboard-style material (minus the holes).Also very happy with the satin surface finish. Shipping charges were reasonable, and the item arrived quite quickly, both times.Why not 5 stars? If the bottom side was of equal finish, you could choose the better side, or flip if some damage occurred in use.EXCELLENT choice in sizes, as well (if you go to their web site).

I was shopping for butcher block for a week. I only needed a small portion because we were putting in a dishwasher and the countertop did not go all the way across or wanted it my solution was to put a butcher-block countertop on. I could not find anything affordable for just a small section until I stumbled across this. It was perfect it was 3 inches too long and we wanted a round corner so we trimmed the excess and sanded the end Corner round. It turned out beautifully I will include a photo of the oil that we put on the end we did it matches and you can not notice any color difference. This was packaged very nicely although I will say it is heavy as hell. Overall I'm very happy with purchase and very excited to have a dishwasher. Thank you Dad!!!

Overall, the countertop material, colors etc are very nice. I plan on using this countertop for an island/focal point of kitchen so wanted to make sure I bought a nice looking countertop. My issue seems to be with the companies quality control.The 1st countertop received didn’t seem to have been damaged in shipping but more like it left the company this way. The 1st 3 pictures show how it seems like it was cut wrong or bad materials were used. The corner could easily fall off. We returned that countertop and waiting for refund.Countertop #2 also has chips in it. It’s the latter 3 pictures. While I am still not happy that my 2nd countertop is also damaged, the crack is at least in the middle. I will try and place wood filler on it to correct. Another corner also has slight chips but wood filler would work to smooth it out.All in all, depending on your purpose, buy at your own risk. The shipping materials and how they pack the countertop is excellent. Delivery was quick. Only negative is their quality control out the door. They should have seen damage while packing to ship.Note: countertop is more expensive than what I can find locally buy local ones I would need to cut. I figured a precut one at $70 more would be worth time and effort. Doesn’t seem to be the case.

The first order on this arrived cracked in half. After contacting the seller, we re-packaged and sent it back. In the meantime we ordered another one and it arrived in good condition. We love this product.
