Waterfall M.C. Escher Jigsaw Puzzle 1000pc

The description stated that this was a puzzle from Buffalo games. I bought it because I had that puzzle and I am missing pieces. But this puzzle is by Selegiochi, and I will not be able to replace the pieces I am missing. However, I will eventually do this puzzle and frame it.

So many similar colors/shapes make for lots of 2nd guessing. Enjoyed the challenge of this one!

I'm not going to complain about the fact that there are large swaths of white and gray---those are obvious from the picture on the box and you deserve what you ask for. And also, I love Escher, so that's not a problem. The problem is that ALL OF THE PIECES ARE THE SAME SHAPE, which is to say, lobes on either end with notches in the middle, the classic jigsaw puzzle piece shape. Every piece has two lobes and two notches. So when you're trying to assemble the aforementioned large swaths of monochrome, there are not clues that can be derived from the configuration of the notches and lobes of the other pieces already in place! To make matters worse, pieces tend to fit where they shouldn't, so you can't rely on the haptic feedback to let you know that the piece has clicked into the correct location. You almost could turn all the pieces over and work the solid gray of the underside of the puzzle without increasing the difficulty.I'm not sure why anyone would cut a puzzle this way, with all the pieces the same. It's like they bought a puzzle cutting machine and used the preset factory settings for it.
