SEIKO Prospex Diver's 200m Special Edition Chronograph Solar Sports SSC741P1

I'm a watch collector and I already own the Seiko PROSPEX Save The Ocean Special Edition SBDL057. That watch and the SSC741P1 shown here are the same watch internally. Both are solar powered (can also be charged with incandescent lighting) and have a quartz movement so they are very accurate timepieces. The build quality is fantastic on both models but this one definitely takes the cake in the looks department. All of the Prospex "Save the Ocean" watches have unique dials but this particular dial scheme is my personal favorite. The complications are not overly complicated (pun intended) and setting the watch is a breeze. There have been some who assume that the large second hand is for the normal time but that's not the case. That is actually the chronograph second counter. The second hand for the current time is on the spindle on the left as you look at the watch and it has a specially designed fin shape to it. A cool little detail as is the shark fin that can be found on the dial at the 8 o'clock hour indice.The bracelet is a beauty on this watch as well with polished "center" links and brushed outer links. The lugs are brushed on the top of the case and polished on the sides. Buttons/crown (unsigned) are brushed offering a neat subtle contrast to the polished sides of the case. The bracelet also has a small diver's extension for those who will actually be diving with this watch. The bracelet has four micro-adjustments which make finding that perfect fit a bit easier without juggling links around. On that note, this is a pin and collar style bracelet so be VERY CAREFUL when you're adjusting the bracelet by removing links. The collars will come out with the pins, obviously, so make sure you do NOT lose them. Without the collars, the pins will not stay in the links and the bracelet will separate. The collars do NOT go on the end of the pin but rather in the "center" link. You will see the hole in the center link is bigger than outer link holes and that is where the collar goes. Once you have it positioned in the hole correctly (tweezers make it easier but not impossible with steady fingers) the pin will go through the collar as you reinstall it and that secures the pin and the links once done.The watch is a diver's watch of course with a 200M water resistance rating, but I would personally avoid repeated trips to the shower or any exposure to very warm to hot water. These watches are meant to be exposed to cooler ocean/pool water and trust me when I tell you that a cool watch interior and a hot steamy shower are not a good combination repeatedly. I have several 300M watches that I wouldn't take in the shower. It's really not necessary (unless you're trying to time how long it takes you to shower) and you risk damage to seals and most importantly, the movement. That's just my advice but of course feel free to do what you want to with YOUR watch. :)The bottom line is this is a BEAUTIFUL watch made by a brand that has its reputation for a reason. It looks better than quite a few watches costing ten times as much and I am quite convinced my money was well spent purchasing it.

In Kooperation mit dem Meeresforscher Fabien Cousteau, ja, Enkelsohn von Jacques Yves Cousteau, brachte Seiko zum 1. Juni 2019 diese neue Special Edition seiner sehr beliebten Prospex Taucheruhren-Serie als Chronograph mit Solar-Quarzwerk auf den Markt. Weiters gibt es in dieser als "Save The Oceans" betitelten Sonderreihe noch zwei mechanisch angetriebene Chronometer Modelle mit Automatik-Aufzug, die Samurai und die Turtle.Allein schon der optische Eindruck des hier besprochenen Chronographen ist eine Wucht! In 43,5 mm Gehäusegröße gefertigt wirkt er alles andere als zurückhaltend. Die Farbgebung des Zifferblattes als auch der Lünette ist tief strahlendes Ozean-blau, die kleinen Zähler für Sekunde, Stoppminute und 24 Stunden Anzeige, als auch das erste Viertel der Lünette sind in dunklem grau gehalten, was der Hautfarbe des Weißen Hais entspricht. Den Haien sind auch die feinen Wellen auf dem Zifferblatt gewidmet, der Zeiger für die kleine Sekunde symbolisiert eine Flosse. Die großzügige Illumination für die Nacht schließt sogar ihn ein.In der Praxis ist die Uhr problemlos handzuhaben. Die Einstellung der Uhrzeit als auch des Datums erfolgt in gewohnter Manier per Krone. Auch die Stoppfunktion lässt sich wie gewohnt bedienen, allerdings sind die Drücker mit Muttern gesichert, die vor Einsatz aufzudrehen und danach zur Sicherung wieder festzudrehen sind.Armband und Schließe sind betont robust ausgeführt. Die Armbandlänge ist Herren Standard, passt auch für das kräftige Handgelenk. Mein Exemplar wurde auf maximaler Längeneinstellung geliefert, kann aber mit einem spitzen Werkzeug sehr einfach auf die persönliche Weite eingestellt werden. Die Schließe öffnet weit und ist per Arretierung plus Bügel gegen unbeabsichtigtes Aufgehen bestens gesichert.Diese Seiko Divers ist ein Schatz, denn nicht nur ihr optischer und technischer Auftritt beeindrucken, als Special Edition ist sie auch ein Sammlerstück. Save The Oceans!

長年の友人が大学入学したのでプレゼントしました。その友人には以前SEIKOのダイバーズの使ってないやつをあげたところ、とても気に入ってくれたようでずっと使っていました。しかし、何年も使い壊れたとのことで、新しいのが欲しいとのこと。希望としてはクロノグラフで、ダイバーズで、青がいいとのことで色々探した結果これに辿り着きました。レビューを見るととにかくかっこいいとのことで、動力もソーラー、しかもSEIKOなのでまあまず間違いはないだろうという判断から購入。現物を見ると分かるのですがとにかくしっかりとした作りで、かっこいいです。あまりにもかっこいいのでプレゼントする前に写真を撮ってずっと眺めるくらいでした。お揃いで買おうかなぁってくらい良かったです。

Surprisingly nice watch . I have two omega chronograph watches from around 1978 a seamaster and a speed master.The shape of the underside of the Seiko is perfectly made to fit the wrist ,the time is easy to see and the timer is nice. Resetting the timer involves unscrewing the "security" ring around the resetting knob and that's annoying ,the timer loses one star ⭐ because of that.I will hopefully enjoy the Seiko at the beach someday soon
