What is the difference between the 5/8 female 5/8 male All metal one then this one? They don’t show this one on zephyrs website.

There is no difference. This is only an extension to keep it farther away from the buffer. Some of the buffing pads have a recessed base and you will need it to get the job done.

bought 3M 6" buffing pads, they are two-sided, thick, need buffer shaft extension. what and where do I get this?

It's not needed. I personally bought for cutting aluminum which is a form of polishing but it's cutting into the aluminum & very abrasive & messy. The extension helped keep my hands away farther but didn't help honestly. It's a extremely messy job especially a entire horse trailer. Obviously I purchased here on Amazon. Maybe out of stock because they way the world is today. Even getting a doctor's appointment today is a nightmare

Are threads 5/8 11 and how far out is the actual extension of wheel?

5/8" -11 female thread fits 5/8" - 11 arbor spindle. 5/8" - 11 male thread to fit 5/8" arbor hole on airway buffing wheels. And it extends the wheel out 2".
