Great for birthday party, but be prepared!
Great for my 7-year-old. I used it for her birthday party. You’ll have to match the pics/directions for each dog to the materials. I highly recommend doing this and threading the needles before passing it out to a group of kids. (I bought extra needles). You’ll also want glue on hand. The stickers were plenty sticky, but some of them were impossible to remove from its paper backing and so they needed to be glued onto the dog. Overall, highly recommend! The kids loved it and they all came out so cute! Great value and quality!

Outstanding craft kit
This is the best craft kit I have ever purchased. I bought it as an activity for my grandkids. I got it out today for fun with a six year old granddaughter. She loved it!! I was so surprised by the exceptional quality. There are many, many birds included. Each one has its individual parts packaged neatly in a cellophane wrapper. No searching through a mass of pieces to find what you need, and each bird has its own instruction sheet. The felt is sturdy and colorful. Die cuts are absolutely, spot on, accurate. Needle holes are evenly spaced and cleanly cut. You receive a package of full skeins of embroidery floss in multiple colors - way more than you actually need. The birds, birdhouses and tree are a nice size, perfect for little hands. (See photo for relative size laid out on a one inch square grid.) In the end a six year old was able to do most of these on her own. Younger children would need more assistance but could still enjoy this craft. If you are an adult and need some cute birds to decorate a classroom or Sunday School room, this would be perfect. The entire kit is packaged to make it perfect for a group project. Five large plastic needles are included. There is even a child safe scissors, although an adult cutting the floss with a sewing scissors would work out better! Only one improvement is needed: As many have stated, it is really difficult to remove the backing to adhere the wings and other stick on felt pieces to the body. If you aren’t very careful you will remove the adhesive. I was unable to come up with a good trick that would work for this. But once you are successful the adhesive itself is firm and tight. You just have to be patient in finding a spot to lift the backing. A child cannot do this part.

Perfect set for a 7-year-old with a little sewing experience
This is such a perfect set! My son has been sewing these adorable dinos almost independently (I help him plan where to start his stitching so he can add stuffing easily, and I tie the knots, but otherwise he can complete each project!). The set is perfect because the pre-punched holes line up exactly, the set includes everything needed including stuffing and a little scissors, and the finished dinos and accessories (eggs, volcano, palm tree) are so cute and make a fun play set when completed! My son loves working on these!

Excellent quality!
9 & 10 yr olds were able to follow instructions independently, and the final products were beautiful! This gift was a big hit. It could be fun for bird watchers or crafters of any age.

More bang for your buck
The attached pictures should give a good indication of contents (we're restricted on comments about packaging). The black marker numbers on the items indictate quantity. The 2nd picture shows you the difference in size between the Woodland Animals and this bird kit. The pros are the vibrant colors, quantity of items and scenery pieces like the bird houses and tree, and separate instruction booklets if more than 1 person is completing the kit.. Unlike the Woodland animals, these do not have those hard plastic ball screw eyes that need to be capped with a hard plastic plunger cover on the back of the shaft. These have glue on eyes.Cons: this bird kit has separate instruction booklets for each item rather than 1 comprehensive instruction sheet, so it could be easy to misplace 1 or more booklets. The instructions are minimal at best so you rely on the picture of the piece to place the small adhesive items. Ditto regarding the other comments regarding adhesive backed items: felt too firmly adhered to adhesive sheet so that you can inadvertantly tear felt pieces while trying to remove the backing. Also adhesive is variable at best, not constant with each item. Even some of the eyes were missing adhesive.mSince I sew, I always keep a small tube of fabric glue which remedies some of the stickiness problem for these pieces.. You can still get a small tube of fabric glue at Walmart for $1, usually located on wire shelving at the end of one of the craft/ fabric aisles with other dollar items like tape measures or variety needle packs. I revised my rating after finally completing the kit due to adhesive issues. Pointers: for those hard to separate pieces from the paper backing-carefully pick at the edges with your nails all around the stubborn piece until you find a spot where the release is easier, usually at corners or pointed areas, the carefully separate. Keep the plastic bags to store each individual thread with any cut pieces to keep them together-dont forget the circular tab with a number on its because it's the dye lot for the color if you need to get more for another project. Hang onto the adhesive sheets where you removed parts, you may need it to repair or replace an item. I lost a beak for one bird but I was able to create a new one with the pieces I saved. Also with the remaining adhesive stencil skeletons, try creating a collage for a new project
